♦ Connects through a standard 2" filter thread
♦ Doubles field of view in photography (sensor diagonal up to 20 mm)
♦ Rises the photographic speed
♦ More field of view with eyepieces
The TS optics 0.5x reducer shortens the focal lengths of the telescope by 50% and doubles the lens speed and field of view. This advantage can be used visual and phototgraphical with cameras with smaller sensors.
Due to the doubled lens speed, the exposue time is reduced even to a quarter!
The adaptation:
Just thread the reducer into the 2" filter receptacle of your foto adapter or eyepiece. The reducer has a suitable thread.
Photographical application:
Please consider that the TS Reducer does not correct image distortions like coma, field curvature or astigmatism. Newtonian coma will even be increased by the wider field.
The sensor diagonal can be as large as 20 mm without parts left unlighted.
For which telescopes is the Red 0.5x 2" suitable?
Prerequsition is that your telescope accepts 2" accessories. Good are refractors with long focal length, Schmidt-Cassegrain and Maksutov-Cassegrain systems.
At Newtonians, the reducer will increase coma so that we do not recommend it for systems faster than f/6.
Visual observations:
This is also possible.
You can use all 1.25" eyepieces. For adaptation, screw the reducer into the 2" filter thread of the 2/1.25" adaptor.
At 2" eyepieces, you can use the reducer directly for models with max. field stop diameter of approx. 40 mm. Bigger eyepieces will show vignetting.
Useful additional equipment:
The TSVF2 increases the distance beteween reducer and sensor and pushes the reduction factor to 0.3x (only recommended for cameras with small sensors).
