Products description

Variable Polarizing Filter Lunar Filter 2'' for Moon and Planets.

These high quality anodized aluminum and optical glass variable polarizing filters reduce the intensity of light entering the eyepiece. You can continuously darken the image when viewing a bright object such as the moon or certain planets to a level that suits your needs, while increasing contrast. This reduces glare and increases detail. Light transmission can be reduced from 40% to as low as 1%. The filter does not change the color of the object being viewed and prevents both eye fatigue and loss of night vision. Each filter set consists of two polarizing filters, one of which can be rotated to adjust the brightness in its mount. The filters can also be used as individual elements for terrestrial daytime use to reduce blinding sunlight from lakes, the ocean or window glass. Available in two sizes with threads for 1.25" or 2" standard astronomical eyepieces. Includes storage case.

A variable polarizing filter for many purposes

This 2'' diameter variable polarizing filter allows individual adjustment of brightness - useful for Earth observation and solar system objects.

The brightness differences of many details of solar system objects are often very different. This is particularly noticeable with:

Craters on the moon near the light - shadow boundary.
sunspots and flare areas on the sun. Attention: only in connection with a suitable objective solar filter!
Details on planets

Overexposure of the bright regions prevents the recognition of fine details. With variable polarization filters you can adjust the degree of darkening individually.

Light transmission
The light transmission of polarizing filters is between 1% and 40%. They have a very wide efficiency.

Operation
The variable polarizing filters consist of two individual filters. By twisting the lower filter to the upper one, the different darkening is created.

The advantages at a glance:

fits in almost all 2'' eyepieces
universally applicable
not only applicable for the moon
neutral gray image
light transmission between 1% and 40%
