Dew caps are a very useful accessory that every observer needs at some point. Unfortunately, many observation nights are very humid. With Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, the dew first settles on the Schmidt plate. The dew cap protects against this dew, or at least significantly delays the time it takes to fog up. Standard dew caps for C-8 telescopes are made of hard plastic. The Celestron "Lens Shade" dew caps for all other SC telescopes are made of an elastic material. These dew caps can be spread out flat for transport and therefore take up almost no space.
