The lens heater 360 IV was developed to prevent camera lenses and telescopes from fogging up due to dew. It is also well suited for eyepieces.
The heating element is a carbon nanotube heater with a high thermal efficiency. The fabric heating element scores points compared to other heating materials with its great flexibility. The power cable (USB cable) also remains elastic even at low temperatures. The uncomplicated Velcro strap allows the device to be attached to and removed from the lens quickly and easily. The strap can be easily removed from the lens without pulling too hard. The heating band also impresses with its very low power consumption. It can be operated for up to 14 hours with a 10,000 mAh/37 Wh battery.
The Vixen lens heater 360 IV in detail
When moisture in the air comes into contact with an object whose temperature is below the ambient temperature, small water drops form - known as dew or condensation. Because the temperature and humidity change over the course of the night, the camera quickly becomes cooler than its surroundings. The resulting dew is a hindrance for astrophotography because the lens fogs up and the photo becomes milky. This can be counteracted by heating the lens of the lens with heating elements.
We therefore recommend using the Lens Heater 360 IV if you want to take astrophotography or night shots on the coast, in the mountains or in cold regions. The heating elements are made of carbon fibers with improved heating performance, which were introduced for the fourth generation of the Vixen Lens Heater 360 IV. They keep the lens warm and fog-free efficiently with minimal power consumption. The temperature of the heating element reaches 10 °C above the ambient temperature (at 20 °C outside temperature and no wind). However, it fluctuates depending on the influences in the environment.
The Lens Heater 360 IV is equipped with a detachable, up to 50 cm long spiral cable (USB Type-C) for the power supply and only consumes 2.5 W of power (5V 0.5A). This means that it can operate continuously for about 14.8 hours with a mobile USB battery of 10,000 mA, for example (at 20 °C outside temperature). However, the operating time varies greatly depending on the environment and temperature.
The Vixen lens heater 360 IV consists of a 30 mm wide and 600 mm long heating band and is suitable for diameters up to a maximum of 100 mm. The soft and non-slip surface makes it easy to attach to the lens, eyepiece or telescope.
