When it comes to astrophotography, focusing is half the battle. However, this is not an easy task, especially with a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The reason: The main mirror of the SC telescope wobbles back and forth when focusing. This "shifting" is a problem that you can easily avoid with the new Omegon Crayford extractor. With this SC focuser you can focus very precisely. So that you can find the exact sharpness quickly and easily.

 

Simply screw it on and get started
The Omegon SC Crayford extractor is very easy to use. Its telescope-side thread fits directly onto the usual SC thread on your Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. In 2 minutes everything is screwed on and you can start. You can adjust the rough sharpness using the main mirror and the exact sharpness using your new focuser.

 

An improved Crayford extract
Bearing Type is the name of the new improved Crayford design. The Crayford extension already had the advantage of focussing without play. The secret of the Omegon pullout is a roller ball bearing: 8 large rollers hold the inner tube stably in position. The tube slides smoothly into any desired position. An additional rack makes the focuser very stable: the tube does not simply slip through, as is the case with "normal" Crayford focusers.

Focus very softly: 1:10 reduction
You can set exactly the right focus using the rubber-armored and slightly grooved focus wheels. Precise settings are possible thanks to multiple ball bearings on the extension tube. The 1:10 reduction makes it even more precise. This allows you to focus even at high magnification, for example on the live screen of your notebook.

 

High load capacity up to 8kg
One camera, large CCD cameras, off-axis guiders, large 2 inch eyepieces. What do these accessories have in common? All of these things are often heavy, especially when used in combination. The Omegon Crayford pull-out therefore has a particularly high load capacity of up to 8 kg of accessory weight. So put on your accessories, whether light or heavy. Don't worry: just enjoy the starry sky.

 

Fixation for astrophotography
You can fix the focus for your astrophotos using a lock screw. This means that the focus mechanics are disabled and you do not accidentally change the focus. Here too, the pull-out has the edge over the Crayford design. Because the screw only disables the mechanics, but does not clamp on the inner tube. This means that the focuser always remains centered and the “tube” is not “pressed”.
