Celestron Omni eyepiece 2" 56mm, 47° field of view
Plössl eyepiece with a four-element, symmetrical design – offers a sharp image right to the edge of the 47° field of view.
The long-focal-length 56 mm Omni eyepiece provides low-magnification, bright images for long-focal-length telescopes, ideal for viewing deep-sky objects with a wide field of view or for daytime terrestrial observations.
The multi-layer coating on each lens surface allows for maximum contrast and light transmission.
Generous eye relief (52 mm) and fold-down rubber eye shields allow for comfortable viewing with or without glasses.
Rubberized housing ring for better grip when changing eyepieces.
The eyepiece sleeve thread accommodates all 2" Celestron eyepiece filters.
Omni Eyepiece 2" 56 mm, 47° Field of View
Enjoy bright images at low magnification with the Celestron 56 mm Omni eyepiece – a 2" wide-field eyepiece for Low magnification and excellent light transmission. It is a Plössl eyepiece with a four-element, symmetrical design. This fully multi-coated Plössl design offers an apparent field of view of 47º – a great combination of low magnification and wide field of view. The Omni 56mm is perfect for observing deep-sky objects from star clusters (like the Pleiades), nebulae (like the Lagoon and Orion Nebulae), and galaxies (like the Andromeda Galaxy) with long-focal-length telescopes such as Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrains and EdgeHDs. Without low magnification and a wide field of view, you won't be able to fully see some of the most spectacular objects in the night sky in the telescope. The large lenses used in the Omni 56mm Plössl enable this combination of low magnification and wide field of view.
Body
The Omni 56mm eyepiece is equipped with a black-painted barrel and lens hoods. Blackened lens edges prevent reflections inside the eyepiece and increase contrast. Each housing is also anodized twice to prevent reflections.
Its 2" barrel is threaded to accommodate 2" filters and is compatible with 2" diagonals and focusers. A retaining groove in the barrel prevents the eyepiece from slipping out of the focuser when you tilt the telescope and the locking screw may have become loose. An integrated knurled rubber grip ring is located on the outside of the eyepiece for non-slip handling during observation.
Viewing through the Omni 2" eyepiece is suitable for both eyeglass wearers and non-glass wearers thanks to the foldable rubber eye shield and generous 52 mm eye relief.
The Omni 2" eyepiece is suitable for both eyeglass wearers and non-glass wearers. The Plössl Design
Plössl eyepieces are among the first modern eyepiece designs and date back to the Austrian optician Simon Plössl, who developed them as early as 1860. It wasn't until the 1980s that the design became popular, as it could be manufactured to good quality using modern techniques and was far superior to older eyepiece designs. With an apparent field of view of around 50°, they are good, versatile eyepieces that will last you for many years. If you're looking for affordable eyepieces that offer value for money, the Celestron Omni eyepieces are a good choice.
