TS-Optics Premium Zoom Eyepiece 7.2 mm to 21.5 mm - 1.25"
The HRZ Zoom from TS offers sharpness performance close to that of the HR fixed eyepiece. It has a zoom range of 7.2 mm to 21.5 mm. During the design of the eyepiece, great emphasis was placed on a functional zoom eyepiece with good optical and mechanical properties.
The zoom function: continuously from low to high magnification
Zoom eyepieces offer you particularly comfortable observation. With just one eyepiece, you can cover a wide range of magnifications. You start at low magnification and easily increase the magnification without changing the eyepiece. Your eye remains focused on the object. Always in view. It couldn't be more convenient.
It's also incredibly practical to be able to easily increase the magnification continuously from "low" to "high." You'll automatically recognize when you've found the optimal magnification for your object and the current conditions.
And to keep everything under control at night, the premium zoom lens features a non-slip ring for adjusting the magnification. An arrow and engraved numbers always let you know which focal length you've selected.
Optical Quality: Exceptional Sharpness
When you sight in on a planet or a deep-sky object, you'll notice one thing: fantastic sharpness. The premium zoom eyepiece features a special optical design. It offers impressive contrast and good edge-to-edge sharpness. It can easily compete with a fixed-magnification eyepiece.
Contrast Power: Anti-Stray Light Baffles
The lens edges of the eyepiece have been blackened, and cleverly designed baffles are incorporated to prevent unwanted stray light. This has a positive effect on observation and contrast.
Eyecups can be rotated up in three positions
The rubber eyecup can be rotated up to three click-in positions. Depending on your personal viewing needs, you can easily decide whether you want to leave the eyecup in its basic position or move it to one of the three positions. This position remains stable when looking through the eyepiece.
Particularly useful for modern refractors
The purchase is especially useful if you own a modern ED refractor. The latter often has an aperture ratio of around 1:7, allowing the zoom to open up an exit pupil range of about 3 mm to approximately 1 mm. This is exactly what you'll use for galaxies, planetary nebulae, and many star clusters. If you then have a good 2x Barlow lens, you get an AP range of about 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm, thus high to very high magnifications – perfect for planets and the moon. The zoom helps adjust the magnification to the viewing conditions, which with fixed focal lengths either requires a wide range of eyepieces or is often only approximate.
