GSD200C GSO Dobson 200 / 1200mm - Action model - from 12 years
Dobson telescopes from GSO (Guan Sheng Optics) offer an optimal viewing experience because optics and mechanics are right.
GSD200C GSO Dobson 200 / 1200mm Guan Sheng Optics
Very good diffraction-limited optics ... GSO produces excellent mirrors with excellent image quality. They can reach the full resolution, with appropriate atmospheric conditions. By 94% forced mirroring you get a brighter picture.
Very good eyepiece ... No cheap tooth and drive, but a high-quality ball-bearing extension (Crayford) is used. Even at the highest magnifications, a precise focusing is possible without problems. The extension is suitable for 2 "and for 1.25" eyepieces.
Solid mechanics ... The metal tube provides a very high stiffness and the adjustable main and focal mirror mount keep the optical elements very well. The result is that GSO's Dobsons are very stable.
Set up and get started ... Dobsons from GSO are simple and solidly built, even as a beginner you have the telescope quickly under control. Within minutes, the device is ready for use.
Observation of mists and galaxies 200mm opening offer you structures in Planetary Nebulae and first signs of spiral arms in galaxies. Large fog structures, such as the Cirrus Nebula in the Swan, are already illustrated with details.
Observation of the Moon and the Planets Especially in this area, the performance of the device is exceptionally good. The very small catching mirror and the thin catching mirror struts allow an excellent contrast and sharpness performance. This is where the high optical quality of the mirror comes into play.
Set up and get started Just beginners are faced with the easy handling of the TS Dobson. Place the rocker box, which is the lower part of the unit. Hang the tube with the round heights into the cavity and tension the springs. The unit is ready for observation.
The quality of the picture
Not only the high-quality optics, but also the optimized mechanics are the prerequisite for a good image. The thin mudguards (See picture on the left) increase the contrast and sharpness.
The adjustment of the GSD 200C
It is precisely the centering of objects, but also the exact tracking, which is done by hand on Dobson telescopes. A precise and smooth adjustment must therefore be guaranteed. A spring ensures a controlled contact pressure. This ensures that when the eyepiece is replaced, the device does not move inadvertently. In the azimuth, a Teflon bearing provides easy adjustment.
The advantages of the ball bearing Crayford Extractor on the GSD 200C
=> Much easier than many simple eyepieces Very sensitive adjustment => Incl. Adapter for 1,25 "accessories => Gentle clamping of the eyepieces by a clamping ring => Thanks to ball bearing shifting-free adjustment = more precise, sensitive focus. The observed object retains its position during the arming process, which is often impossible with simple extracts. In addition, the pull-out responds much more directly, completely without play, which makes the focus much easier.
