A large aperture for little money – that has always been the guiding principle behind the purchase of a Dobsonian telescope. With the BlackDiamond Dobsonians, Skywatcher created a classic with a new look. A new, patented sliding rod system makes the instrument particularly easy to transport. Furthermore, the sliding rod system allows for flexible adjustment of the focal point.

The Optics and Mount:

This BlackDiamond truss tube Dobsonian is equipped with an 8-inch parabolic mirror. 8 inches is a classic size in astronomical observation. Globular clusters can already be resolved well, and some galaxies are beginning to show the first signs of spiral structures. With an aperture ratio of f/5.9 and a 2-inch focuser, the optics are also well-suited for observing large nebulae. The planets also display a wealth of detail. Saturn's rings are clearly visible, and even the famous Cassini Division is visible!

The The telescope is equipped with a low-shifting Crayford focuser, which allows you to finely adjust the exact focus. The focuser includes a T2 camera mount. A camera-specific T2 adapter is required for adapting digital SLR cameras, which you can also find in our product range.

Troop Dobsonians are particularly popular with dedicated observers due to their excellent portability. Skywatcher offers a particularly easy-to-use system with its new FlexTubes. It has only three rods and can be quickly collapsed. Once you arrive at your observation site, you simply need to pull the tube apart again and have a fully functional and adjusted telescope within seconds. Even when fully extended, the telescope is extremely rigid. Despite its simple design, the manufacturer promises particularly high alignment stability.
