A powerful all-rounder and still not an optical compromise solution - this is the Dobson. A small 63mm reflective mirror in the small axis and the resulting low shading enable planetary observation of very high quality. Stars, are also given as fine points up to the edge of the face even with cheaper eyepieces.

The Dobson is delivered with an 8x50 viewfinder (straight-line). The eyepiece extension is spherical and accommodates 2 "and 1.25" eyepieces. There are always two Plössl eyepieces (25mm and 10mm focal length)

The 2 "Crayford Eyepiece Extractor of the Deluxe Dobsons

Each Orion Dobson Deluxe comes with an accurate 2 "Crayford eyepiece eyepiece, with a 1.25" eyepiece reduction. The extension is solidly made of metal and allows an exact and, above all, shake-free focus. With an overall height of approximately 50mm, the pull-out is particularly short-lasting and allows a relatively small catching mirror and thus a high sharpness performance of the devices.

The reflectivity of the mirrors

Each mirror of the Orion Dobsons Deluxe is equipped with a forced mirror layer with 97% reflection. This results in a much brighter picture compared to normal mirrored systems. You gain about an inch of aperture in the light collection.

The quality of the main mirror

ORION attaches particular importance to the quality of the mirrors. Each mirror of the Dobsons Deluxe has a guaranteed accuracy of 1/6 Lambda p / v wave. A STREHL value of better than 0.95 is also guaranteed. A Zygo test report with evaluation is included with each device.


Each ORION Dobson is supplied with a computer-optimized 9-point skin mirror cell

What is optional with the manufacturer is always with us. The computer-optimized main mirror cell provides a very stable support.

The main mirror is relaxed, so you can enjoy the high optical quality, which is guaranteed, also in practice. It goes without saying that the main and focal mirror cells are fully adjustable.

However, the upgrades must be indicated at the time of ordering, and subsequent retrofitting is not possible.

The Rockerbox made of aluminum

Especially the Rocker Box made of aluminum is a special advantage. They are stiffer than most conventional rocker boxes made of wood. Nevertheless, the weight is significantly lower.

- Due to the reduced dead weight, the rocker boxes are clearly transportable.

- Within a few minutes you can completely disassemble and flatten the Rockerbox.

- Due to the Teflon mounting, a particularly sensitive adjustment is given, even at the highest magnifications you get the object always exactly centered.

- Due to the particularly high height wheels, a good and even height adjustment is given.
