The Skyliner 300mm (12") f/4.9 Dobsonian combines the advantages of a Dobsonian telescope with the benefits of a GoTo system. 305mm (12") f/1500 collapsible, computer-controlled GoTo parabolic Dobsonian with WiFi (featuring low-expansion borosilicate glass). Skywatcher 300P Synscan
The new Skyliner Dobsons with GoTo are a current highlight of the development of Dobson telescopes. They combine the advantages of the Dobson telescope (a large opening with a light construction at an affordable price) with the convenient handling of a GoTo mount. These telescopes are by far the most convenient way to combine a large telescopic opening with computer control through a hand box.
The "Flex-Tube" system used by Skywatcher, proven in standard and autotracking dobsons, is also used here. The transportability and fast construction of this robust telescope is easier and better than any other known device. The adjustment is retained, an exemplary feature of the new Skywatcher Dobson.
The new Skyliner GoTo Dobsons represent a current pinnacle in the evolution of Dobson telescopes. They combine the inherent advantages of a Dobson design—large aperture and easy setup at an affordable price—with the convenient operation of a GoTo mount. These telescopes offer, by far, the most cost-effective way to pair a large aperture with a computer-controlled, hand-operated tracking system.
The "Flex-Tube" design, already proven in Skywatcher’s standard and Auto-Tracking Dobson models, is also featured here. The portability and rapid setup of this robust telescope are superior to any other comparable instrument on the market. Furthermore, the optical alignment (collimation) is maintained—an exemplary feature of these new Skywatcher Dobsons. The ultimate 12" Dobsonian! A computer-controlled GoTo Dobsonian featuring built-in WiFi. It boasts superb 305mm Sky-Watcher parabolic optics, crafted from low-expansion borosilicate glass, which ensures faster cool-down times and excellent thermodynamic optical properties. It also features a convenient, collapsible FlexTube truss-tube design.
Included equipment: A precision 2" Crayford focuser with 1.25" and 2" eyepiece adapters, a 9x50 straight-through finderscope, 12.5mm and 20mm 70° super-wide-angle eyepieces, a 1.25" adapter with a brass compression ring (to prevent damage to your eyepieces), and a universal smartphone camera adapter for capturing your first images of celestial objects.
The Skyliner 300P FlexTube SynScan Dobsonian is supported by a fully motorized, computer-controlled base. Following a simple alignment procedure, the system can automatically slew to over 42,900 night-sky objects via the included hand controller. Furthermore, the base can be controlled wirelessly via WiFi using the SynScan app on a smartphone or tablet. The base incorporates patented "Freedom-Find" dual encoders, which allow the mount to be moved manually without losing its positional data. This enables you to quickly slew the telescope by hand to an object on the other side of the sky, then let the computer handle the precise final alignment. The telescope tube can be quickly and easily detached from the base, making it much more convenient to transport.
In visual astronomy, a large, light-gathering Dobsonian is truly hard to beat. The only drawback is that as they get larger, they become increasingly difficult to transport and store. Traditional truss-tube designs require... No more time-consuming setup procedures. Sky-Watcher’s clever, patented, collapsible FlexTube™ truss-tube design is a true game-changer, as it requires no assembly. The optical tube can simply be extended, locking into place on three sturdy struts in a matter of seconds. Once extended, there is no lateral movement or flex, meaning that re-collimation is not necessary. A second locking position is provided for use with a binoviewer. When collapsed, the tube is easy to transport and can be stored upright. Furthermore, the optical tube can be easily detached from the rocker box by removing the side handles, making transport even more convenient.
The Sky-Watcher Skyliner 300P Flextube SynScan Dobson, with its impressive parabolic optics, is an excellent all-rounder, offering truly stunning views of the Moon and planets, as well as deep-sky objects such as galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters. The heart of any Dobsonian telescope is the quality of its mirror optics; the precision of the figuring, the material used, and the coatings all play a significant role in the telescope's performance. Sky-Watcher is well-renowned for its expertise in manufacturing high-quality telescope mirrors—a reputation built and proven over decades. Parabolic mirrors feature a complex surface and must therefore be crafted with great care. A perfectly shaped parabolic primary mirror eliminates spherical aberration, ensuring that all light rays converge precisely at the focal point. Sky-Watcher’s diffraction-limited parabolic primary mirrors produce sharp, high-contrast images rich in detail.
The primary and secondary mirrors of the Skyliner 300P Flextube SynScan Dobson are crafted from a special low-expansion borosilicate glass—similar to the well-known Pyrex—which exhibits significantly less thermal expansion than standard glass types like BK7 or ordinary window glass. In practical terms, this means shorter cool-down times to reach thermal stability, without the need for a cooling fan. Furthermore, the mirror maintains its shape more effectively during the cooling process, preventing image distortion and allowing observations to begin sooner.
Both the primary and secondary mirrors feature Sky-Watcher’s high-quality RAQ™ (Radiant Aluminium Quartz) coating. This multi-layer finish consists of aluminum, a dielectric layer of tantalum pentoxide for enhanced reflectivity and protection, and a final layer of silicon dioxide. The result is a brilliant, durable coating with 94% reflectivity that is designed to last for many years. The secondary mirror is held in place by four specially designed, highly stable struts that are only 0.5 mm thick. These minimize obstruction in the optical path and reduce diffraction spikes around stars to an absolute minimum.
Skyliner Classic Dobsons feature a beautiful finish in Sky-Watcher’s signature "Black Diamond" metallic paint, complemented by contrasting white surfaces—a design choice that serves more than just an aesthetic purpose. The white finish makes the telescope easier to see at night, helping to prevent anyone from accidentally bumping into it. Features:

The 2 "eyepiece extractor:
The Dobson is equipped with a smooth and precise 2 "Crayford eyepiece extractor with a 1.25" reduction. This makes it possible to use high-performance 2 "eyepieces, a bright image and a clear overview. All 1.25" eyepieces can of course also be used. Since the extension is ball-bearing, accurate and easy adjustment is ensured with heavy accessories.
