A further development of Skywatcher's Dobson: the Skyliner series.
The tube can be pushed together. Thanks to its ultracompact dimensions, it is ideal for transport and storage. To observe, you have to pull the tube apart and have within seconds a fully operational and adjusted telescope. Do not worry: this Dobson has a high stiffness.

Skyliner 12 "Flex Tube Dobson:

12 "opening is an enormous size with a Dobson, which still remains transportable!
With this mirror diameter, you see the structure of mists and galaxies, details are resolved. The finest details in mists and galaxies come to the forefront of star clusters, you will not be hidden.
Details in abundance with the moon and planets attract you for a long time, this abundance of picture information no longer ceases. The excellent optics and its enormous image brightness make every observation a special pleasure.
Still a transportable device due to the FlexTubesystem with only approx. 100 cm length, you can take it loose also in cars.


The adjustment of the SKEXD12:

The telescope sits on a so-called rocker box, which forms a stable, wobbly substructure. The desired celestial objects can thus be targeted by sliding on the tube.
The tripod plate runs on plain bearings and the telescope can be rotated into the desired direction of the sky (azimuth) by the lateral handles. The height adjustment has a so-called "Tension Control" (see picture above). This allows you to adjust the movement of the height adjustment and even clamp the telescope.

The 2 "eyepiece extractor:

The Dobson is equipped with a smooth and precise 2 "Crayford eyepiece extractor with a 1.25" reduction. This makes it possible to use high-performance 2 "eyepieces, a bright image and a clear overview. All 1.25" eyepieces can of course also be used.
Since the extension is ball-bearing, accurate and easy adjustment is ensured with heavy accessories.

The mirror support is similar to Pyrex: it is characterized by a fast cooling and provides a slightly better image even during the cooling phase than other mirror carriers (such as float glass or BK7). The type of the mirror carrier is no longer decisive for the quality of the image. Here it is clear that the advantage of the PYREX is the rapid operability of the telescope. A diffraction-limited image of the telescope is guaranteed.

The FlexTube system - ideal for transport:


Within seconds, the Dobson is retracted for transport and can also be stowed away. The tube remains a compact unit and the optical elements are optimally protected. The tube has a length of only 100cm when retracted.
