Skywatcher Skyliner-350P SynScan 14 "Pyrex GoTo Dobson Telescope
355mm (14") f/4.5 Collapsible Computerized GoTo Parabolic Dobsonian Telescope with WiFi (featuring low-expansion borosilicate glass)
Sky-Watcher 14" SynScan Dobsonian – computerized location of astronomical objects
...the Skyliner 355mm (14") f/4.5 Dobsonian combines the advantages of a Dobsonian telescope with the benefits of a GoTo system
The new Skyliner Dobsons with GoTo are a current high point in the development of Dobson telescopes. They combine the advantages of the Dobson telescope (a large opening with a light construction at a low price) with the advantageous handling of a GoTo mount. These telescopes are by far the cheapest way to combine a large telescope opening with computer control through a hand box.
The "Flex-Tube" system used by Skywatcher, proven in standard and auto-tracking Dobsons, is also used here. The transportability and rapid construction of this rugged telescope is lighter and better than any other known device. The adjustment remains intact, a model feature of the new Skywatcher Dobson.
The ultimate 14" Dobsonian! A computer-controlled GoTo Dobsonian featuring built-in WiFi. It boasts superb 305mm (12") parabolic optics from Sky-Watcher, crafted from low-expansion borosilicate glass—ensuring faster cool-down times and excellent thermodynamic optical properties. The convenient, collapsible FlexTube truss-tube design makes it highly practical.
Included equipment: A 2" dual-speed Crayford focuser with precision fine-adjustment (includes 1.25" and 2" eyepiece adapters), a 9x50 straight-through finderscope, 12.5mm and 20mm 70° super-wide-angle eyepieces, a 1.25" adapter with a brass compression ring (to prevent damage to your eyepieces), and a universal smartphone camera adapter for capturing your first images of celestial objects.
The Skyliner 350P FlexTube SynScan Dobsonian is mounted on a fully motorized, computer-controlled base. Following a simple alignment procedure, the system can automatically slew to over 42,900 night-sky objects via the included hand controller. Furthermore, the GoTo system can be operated wirelessly via WiFi using the SynScan app on a smartphone or tablet. The base incorporates patented "Freedom-Find" dual encoders, allowing you to move the telescope manually without losing its positional data. This enables you to quickly slew the telescope by hand to an object on the opposite side of the sky, then let the computer handle the precise final positioning. The optical tube can be easily and quickly detached from the base for more convenient transport.
For visual astronomy, a large, light-gathering Dobsonian is truly hard to beat. The only drawback is that as they get larger, they become increasingly difficult to transport and store. Traditional truss-tube designs... Traditional tube designs often require a time-consuming assembly process. Sky-Watcher’s clever, patented, collapsible FlexTube™ truss-tube design is a true game-changer, as it requires no assembly at all. The tube can simply be extended, locking into place on three sturdy struts in a matter of seconds. Once extended, there is no lateral movement or flex, meaning that re-collimation is not necessary. A second locking position is also provided for use with a binoviewer. When collapsed, the tube is easy to transport and can be stored upright. Furthermore, the tube can be easily detached from the rocker box by removing the side handles, making transport even more convenient.
Featuring impressive parabolic optics, the Sky-Watcher Skyliner 350P FlexTube SynScan Dobsonian is an excellent all-rounder, offering truly stunning views of the Moon and planets, as well as deep-sky objects such as galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters. The heart of any Dobsonian telescope is the quality of its mirror optics; the precision of the figuring, the material used, and the coatings all play a significant role in the telescope's performance. Sky-Watcher is well-renowned for its expertise in manufacturing high-quality telescope mirrors—a reputation built over decades. Parabolic mirrors have complex surfaces and must therefore be crafted with great care. A perfectly shaped parabolic primary mirror eliminates spherical aberration, ensuring that all light rays converge at a single focal point. Sky-Watcher’s diffraction-limited parabolic primary mirrors produce sharp, high-contrast images rich in detail.
The primary and secondary mirrors of the Skyliner 350P FlexTube SynScan Dobsonian are crafted from a special low-expansion borosilicate glass—similar to the well-known Pyrex—which... ...has an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion compared to standard types of glass, such as BK7 or ordinary window glass. In practical terms, this means shorter cooling times to reach thermal stability—without the need for a cooling fan. Furthermore, the mirror maintains its shape better during the cooling process, preventing optical distortion and allowing observations to begin sooner.
Both the primary and secondary mirrors feature Sky-Watcher’s high-quality RAQ™ (Radiant Aluminium Quartz) coating. This multi-layer finish consists of aluminum, dielectric tantalum pentoxide (for enhanced reflectivity and protection), and a top layer of silicon dioxide. It is a brilliant, durable combination that offers 94% reflectivity and is designed to last for many years.
The secondary mirror is held in place by four specially designed, highly rigid vanes that are only 0.5 mm thick. These minimize obstruction within the optical path and reduce diffraction spikes around stars to an absolute minimum.
Skyliner Classic Dobsonians are finished in Sky-Watcher’s signature "Black Diamond" metallic paint, accented by contrasting white surfaces. This choice is not merely aesthetic: the white finish makes the telescope easier to see in the dark, helping to prevent anyone from accidentally bumping into it.
The 2 "Crayford focuser with 1:10 reduction:
The Dobson is equipped with a smooth and precisely worked 2 "Crayford focuser with a reduction for 1.25" accessories. You can thus use powerful 2 "eyepieces, a bright picture and a broader view is possible. All 1.25" eyepieces can of course also be used.
Since the drawer is ball-bearing, heavy and accurate adjustments are guaranteed for heavy accessories.
To achieve a particularly accurate focus, the extract has a 1:10 micro reduction.
14 "opening is a huge size on a Dobson that still remains portable!
At this mirror diameter you can see the structure of nebulae and galaxies, details are resolved. Finest details in nebulae and galaxies come to light. Border stars from star clusters are not hidden from you. Even the color perception with some bright mists is possible!
Details in abundance in the moon and planets will captivate you for a long time, this abundance of image information will not cease. The excellent optics and its enormous image brightness make every observation a special pleasure.
