Products description

Celestron StarSense Explorer 130mm Tabletop Dobsonian
Use your smartphone to explore the night sky with the telescope - you don't need any experience using a telescope
Patent-pending StarSense technology uses your smartphone to analyze star patterns in the sky. It calculates in real time where the telescope is pointing - and therefore knows at all times which observation object you are currently targeting. Check your phone's compatibility here.
The StarSense Explorer app automatically generates a list of currently visible objects. View planets, brighter nebulae and galaxies, star clusters and binary stars from the city, or take your telescope to a darker location to view faint deep sky objects.
A 130mm parabolic mirror helps you get the most out of StarSense technology.
Stable Dobsonian table mount that allows you to easily pivot the telescope to where the arrows on the display point. When the crosshairs turn green, your target is visible in the eyepiece!
The StarSense Explorer Powered by SkySafari™ app automatically creates a list of currently visible objects. View planets, brighter nebulae and galaxies, star clusters and binary stars in the city. Or take your telescope to a darker location to see even more.
Includes a 25mm and a 10mm Keller eyepiece, the StarSense Dock, a StarPointer™ red dot finder, an eyepiece mount and a collimation cap.

Celestron StarSense Explorer 130mm Tabletop Dobsonian
Celestron has reinvented the tabletop Dobsonian telescope with the StarSense Explorer - the first tabletop Dobsonian telescope that uses your smartphone to analyze the night sky and calculate its position in real time. This Celestron StarSense Explorer with 130mm opening is ideal for beginners thanks to the app's user-friendly interface and detailed instructions. It's like having your own personal guide to the night sky.

Dock, launch, explore
Forget small star charts, complex planetarium programs and computer-controlled mounts. Finding objects has never been easier, faster and more accurate than with a StarSense Explorer. Within minutes of setting up the telescope, you'll be able to confidently find your way around the sky. Simply place your smartphone camera in the unique StarSense dock and launch the StarSense Explorer app.

After aligning your phone with the telescope's optics (which takes two minutes), the StarSense Explorer app generates a list of currently visible celestial objects. Make your selection and directional arrows will appear on the screen to help you align the telescope. As soon as the object is visible in the eyepiece, the crosshairs turn green.

Smartphone compatibility
StarSense Explorer technology works with most current smartphones, including iPhone 6 and newer and most devices running Android 7.1.2 or later manufactured since 2016. For a complete compatibility list click here.

Patented StarSense Sky Recognition Technology
StarSense Explorer uses patented technology and your smartphone to determine exactly where the telescope is pointed in the night sky. A LISA algorithm (Lost in Space Algorithm), like the one satellites in orbit use to orient themselves correctly, helps the app compare the star patterns it detects across the sky with its internal database.

While other astronomy apps claim they can help you find objects, they rely solely on the phone's gyroscopes and accelerometers, which aren't as accurate as LISA technology. No other app can tell you exactly when your target will be visible in the eyepiece.

High quality Dobsonian mount
The stable Dobsonian table mount provides a robust base for the telescope. It is compact, lightweight and easy to transport, making it perfect for travel. The design of the mount makes it easier for children in particular to access the eyepiece. You can also place the telescope on a stable platform such as a table or the hood of a car to raise it to a comfortable viewing height. For even more observation options, you can purchase the optional tripod Celestron Tripod for StarSense Explorer Tabletop Dobsons (#820955, ¤179).

Teflon bearings ensure smooth movement in both axes. The integrated height braking system allows you to adjust the clamping force of the height axis to ensure the smoothest possible movement, even with slight imbalances. This allows you to easily track celestial objects moving across the night sky.

The actual telescope is connected to the mount via pipe clamps. The tube can be easily inserted into one rotate to a comfortable position. The mount has an eyepiece rest so that you have your additional eyepiece(s) within easy reach.

Perfect for the city as well as dark locations
Even if you live in a place with slightly brightened skies and moderate light pollution, the telescope is powerful enough to show Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, the Orion Nebula, binary stars, and some more of the most famous celestial objects.

However, if you can move the telescope to a slightly darker location, even more objects will become visible. With this 130mm Dobsonian telescope and a relatively dark sky, hundreds of fascinating objects are within easy reach.

The StarSense Explorer Tabletop Dobsonian is lightweight and equipped with carrying handles so you can easily transport it to your observation site.
