SkyWatcher telescope Evostar 72EDX

The Sky-Watcher Evostar 72ED apochromatic doublet refractor has been equipped with several great upgrades. We are proud to introduce the new Evostar 72EDX model, the result of various mechanical improvements. Featuring a new white-and-green color scheme, it is an outstanding instrument for both observation and photography—when paired with the appropriate accessories. The new Sky-Watcher Evostar 72EDX model is now equipped with a 2.2" rack-and-pinion focuser featuring a graduated drawtube and an integrated 360° rotator, as well as a retractable dew shield and a convenient carrying handle.

It utilizes the same high-quality f/5.8 optics found in the previous model, incorporating a premium ED glass element to prevent chromatic aberration. An optically matched 0.85x focal reducer/field flattener (Order No. 20258) is available as an optional accessory for astrophotography.

The optics deliver pinpoint-sharp stars against a pitch-black, high-contrast background. Every air-to-glass surface has been treated with an exotic anti-reflection metallic coating to ensure maximum light transmission of 99.5%. Sky-Watcher’s proprietary "Metallic High-Transmission Coating" (MHTC) ranks among the finest anti-reflection coatings in its class.

As apochromatic refractors are free of central obstruction, they produce textbook-perfect diffraction patterns and offer the sharpest, highest-quality optical images compared to any other optical telescope system of equivalent aperture.

For many years, Sky-Watcher Evostar ED doublets have been the refractors of choice for numerous astrophotographers, thanks to their exceptional combination of performance and capability. Due to their simpler optical construction involving fewer glass elements, they are typically much lighter and more convenient to handle compared to similarly sized triplet refractors or other multi-element ED refractor designs.
