NEXSTAR 4 SE GOTO TELESCOPE
Invest in pure joy of observation

Each Celestron Nexstar SE telescope is characterized by exceptional ease of use and offers all the amenities of a modern, computerized telescope.

The correct positioning to find even the most difficult galaxies is no longer a problem thanks to SkyAlign technology. Simply point the telescope at any three stars - and it will be ready for use in no time. With the optional StarSense module, the telescope even takes over the initialization in the starry sky itself - all you have to do is set up the telescope, switch it on and wait three minutes.

You can even use the optional SkyQ-Link WiFi adapter to control this telescope remotely using your iPhone, iPad or Windows PC via WLAN - simply by looking at the star map on the screen. So if you are looking for the telescope with the most modern control electronics, then choose the Celestron NexStar SE.

Overview of further advantages:
all telescopes can either be placed on the stable tripod or with the base on a table, a wall or similar. be put.
the devices are also ideally suited for other areas of nature observation (birds, lake, mountains). Both the Maksutov and Schmidt-Cassegrain optics provide an absolutely stray light-free, high-contrast image even in bright sunlight.
The new revolutionary "SkyAlign" process enables even the absolute layperson to align a telescope astronomically in just a few minutes. You don't need to know the north direction, nor do you have to level the telescope - and you don't have to know a single star by name! Adjustment starts from every balcony, even without a compass (which would only be distracted by surrounding iron).
In all devices, the optical tube is coupled to the mount using a standard dovetail and quick-release clamp - you can use the optics during transport, e.g. separate from the mount in the airplane and only carry the optical part as hand luggage. You can just as well leave the astronomical mount at home for nature observation and digital photography and set the optics alone on an optional tripod.
The NexStar SE mounts adapt to the interests of the user! In addition to the supplied optical tube, other devices can also be installed alternately for different purposes, e.g. a solar telescope, camera + guide scope or a widefield telescope!
NexStar 4 SE and NexStar 5 SE are extremely compact and even fit in the luggage compartment on the plane above the seat!
The mounts of the NexStar 4 SE and NexStar 5 SE have revolutionary control software for remote-controlled operation of digital cameras. This enables the control of the common DSLR cameras for serial exposures. This means that the devices can also be used as monitoring devices over long distances.
The extremely compact Maksutov-Cassegrain and Schmidt-Cassegrain optics are built in the "Celestron quality" that has been praised for 40 years. The Celestron 5 has been used several times on NASA's space shuttle flights.

The NexStar 4SE - the planet hunter for visual observations and photography

The NexStar 4SE is the most compact member of the NexStar SE series. The Maksutow-Cassegrain telescopes have a smaller secondary mirror and a longer focal length than comparable Schmidt-Cassegrains, which has two advantages: On the one hand, higher magnifications are easy to achieve, on the other hand, the contrast and thus the resolution are better. Despite the compact design, you can see many details and not only target planets, but also resolve numerous double stars and star clusters. For faint deep sky objects, however, you should better choose one of the larger models. Close to the city, fog filters such as the Baader Planetarium UHC-S or the OIII help to hide the scattered light from the cities.

Due to the fixed built-in secondary mirror in Maksutow telescopes and the aperture ratio of f / 13, it is also stable in adjustment; different from e.g. With Newtonian mirror telescopes, no adjustment is necessary after transport.

A special feature of the 4SE is the built-in folding mirror. So you can switch between a straight beam path (via photo thread, for photography) and a 90 ° angled view. This not only saves you the zenith mirror, but you can also easily switch between an eyepiece and the camera when taking pictures. So you can easily center your target on the small sensors of video cameras.

The telescope has the usual 1.25 "connection in astronomy. So all common astronomical 1.25" eyepieces (plug size: 31.7mm) can be used. This is particularly convenient, for example, with the Baader Planetarium Q-Turret eyepiece turret, which covers all sensible magnifications and enables rapid switching between different magnifications.

With an optional Celestron T-adapter for NexStar 4SE / C90 / C130 and a suitable T-adapter for your camera mount, you can also use the telescope as a telephoto lens with a focal length of 1500mm on an SLR camera. In order to position it precisely despite the high magnification, you can switch off the automatic tracking and still move the mount using the manual control - in high-speed or at the lowest speed.
Planetary photography with webcam or focal with the DSLR
Planetary photography with the webcam at the 1.25 "connection or focal with the DSLR: everything is possible. The built-in polar height cradle also enables longer exposure series, e.g. during lunar eclipses. The camera is controlled via the mount.

The most important numbers:
OPENING: 102mm
Focal length: 1325mm
OKULAR: 25mm - 53x magnification
MAXIMUM MAGNIFICATION: 241x
WEIGHT OF TELESCOPE AND MOUNT: 5kg
TRIPOD WEIGHT: 4.5kg
TOTAL WEIGHT: 9.5kg

The NexStar 4 / 5SE mount with polar height cradle and camera control

The SE mount is an azimuthal one-arm mount that can be assembled without tools. Thanks to the large, non-slip screws, this is also possible with gloves. It is optimized to be quickly deployable and easy to transport. In contrast to the classic equatorial mount, you do not have to adjust the telescope to the north, adjust the pole height or take counterweights. The mount is simply set up horizontally, and after the alignment (by simply setting any three bright stars), the computer automatically takes care that the telescope approaches the desired objects and keeps them in the eyepiece: the automatic tracking automatically compensates for the earth's rotation.

This makes the SE telescopes ideal for anyone who wants to observe the starry sky themselves: very portable, quick to use and with all the necessary comfort.

The telescope is attached to the mount with a standard prism rail with quick coupling, so it can be easily removed. However, this is not necessary for transport: the complete mount including the telescope is very handy and fits, for example, in the separately available, padded transport case. It is simply attached to the sturdy steel tripod with three handy screws; a centering pin helps to place it on the tripod.

The mount can also carry other telescopes up to approx.4.5kg stably via the prism rail - for example lens telescopes up to approx. 10 cm opening or mirror telescopes up to approx. 13 cm opening.

The NexStar 4 / 5SE mount also offers everything for photography: moon photography with an SLR camera or planetary photography with a video camera like the Celestron NexImage 5 are possible without any problems; You also need the Celestron T-adapter for NexStar 4SE / C90 / C130 as well as a suitable T2 adapter for your camera or a 1.25 "eyepiece clamp. You can also take pictures directly with a MicroStage camera platform through the eyepiece. Via the built-in polar height cradle Long exposures are also possible: The mount is aligned parallel to the earth's axis, as with a classic parallactic ("astronomical") mount. A software routine of the hand control box helps you to align the mount comfortably with high accuracy even without a polar finder. This does not prevent only the field of view rotation if you are photographing a lunar eclipse for a long period of time - deep sky images are also possible. a reflex camera with the sepa Saddle the piggyback adapter available "piggyback" onto the telescope.

The hand controller is neatly integrated into the fork arm and can be removed if necessary. The telescope can also be conveniently operated when it is seated in the fork arm holder.

An AUX connection enables the connection of other accessories - from GPS receivers to StarSense modules.

Extensive star catalogs and TOUR function for an overview

The hand controller contains a database with over 38,000 objects. Among them are of course the planets of the solar system as well as countless galaxies, gas nebulae, star clusters and interesting stars. The choice is difficult for you? Then use the TOUR mode, which shows you a selection of the most beautiful objects every evening and explains them in German on the display.

SkyAlign - establishment without knowledge of the sky

The NexStar SE mount has motors with encoders in both axes and a hand controller with 38,181 objects in the database. To initialize the computer control, you only have to enter the time and location (selectable from the database) in the hand controller and move to any three bright objects in the sky - no matter which, you don't even need to know them! After this SkyAlign, the mount knows what the sky looks like above and controls every further object at the push of a button.
Expandable for the latest technology - high value retention

With the optional Celestron SkySync GPS module, you save the need to enter the date, time and observation location, making commissioning even easier. This data is automatically taken over by the telescope via the GPS satellites.

Can it be more convenient? The SE telescopes are compatible with the StarSense module. Behind it is a small camera, which is mounted on the telescope and with which the telescope is automatically oriented to the sky - without GPS. With StarSense, all you have to do is set up the telescope, switch it on and wait about three minutes. Since StarSense is compatible with all modern, computer-controlled Celestron telescopes, you can continue to use it if you buy a larger telescope - StarSense also works with telescopes of the observatory class.

This means that a NexStar SE telescope can be brought up to date at any time if there are technical innovations - this ensures the value of your telescope is preserved!

Control via PC and iPhone

Like all Celestron NexStar telescopes, the NexStar SE can also be controlled via the PC. You only need the optional Celestron RS cable and, if necessary, an adapter from RS232 to USB. You can then control the telescope from a Windows PC using the NexRemote software or the widely used ASCOM interface.

But the SE telescopes also support wireless control! You can control the telescope wirelessly using the optional SkyQ Link WLAN adapter - either via a Windows PC or via iPhone or iPad (with the optional SkyQ planetarium program from the Apple App Store). So you don't have to take a laptop with you on your observation nights, an iPhone is all it takes to have a modern graphic telescope control in addition to the hand controller, whose large buttons can also be operated with thick gloves. All options are open to you!

power supply

The computer control is of course dependent on electricity. The mount offers several options for power supply: Either via eight commercially available Mignon batteries if you want to be completely independent, or via an optional connection cable for the cigarette lighter socket of a car or via an optional power supply.

The separately available cold-resistant Baader Planetarium Outdoor Telescope Power Power Supply # 19 was specially developed for the Celestron telescopes. It provides the necessary voltage even at low temperatures - cheaper power supplies that are designed for indoor use often supply too little power at cold temperatures.

future-proof

The NexStar-SE mount can not only be used with the supplied telescope, but also with many other telescopes or spotting scopes thanks to the standard prism clamp. Thanks to the hand controller, which can be updated via the Internet, you can always keep the software up to date and retrofit the latest technologies such as SkyQ Link or StarSense at any time via the AUX connection. The telescope can also be used on many other mounts via the standardized dovetail rail, for example if you want to do deep sky photography one day.

A computer-controlled Celestron telescope has everything you need to get started straight away - at the same time, it keeps all options open for the future.

Avoid electronic damage - think of the right power supply!

For the correct operation of the device, please use only high-quality power supplies that also meet the specifications in astro- Outdoor use is sufficient - cheap power supplies often only supply the specified voltage and power at room temperature and, in the worst case, can even damage the electronics. Suitable high-quality power supplies can be found on the left under Optional accessories.
