TS-PHOTON / GSO 6" f/6 Advanced Newtonian Telescope with Carbon Tube

The PHOTON Newtonian reflector with 150 mm aperture and focal ratio f/6 is optimized for observation and planetary photography - an ideal entry-level telescope

♦ Aperture 150 mm / focal length 900 mm / focal ratio F6

♦ High-quality parabolic primary mirror with 94 % reflection for a brighter image.

♦ Large secondary mirror with 45 mm diameter - little shadowing for sharp lunar and planetary observations.

♦ Precise 2" Crayford focuser for accurate focusing - motor focus is optional.

♦ Carbon tube for more stability and better transport at the same time - Made in Germany!

♦ Adjustable main and secondary mirror mount made of metal, practical adjustment aid on the main mirror.

♦ Focus position is optimized for observation, you will be able to focus easily with all eyepieces.

♦ The telescope is still well supported by smaller mounts like the EQ3 or EQ5 from Skywatcher.

♦ Central marking on the main mirror available for easy adjustment

♦ Comprehensive scope of delivery: 6x30 finder, tube clamps, prism rail

TS-PHOTON 150/900-mm-Advanced-Newton for observation.
This Newtonian reflector telescope from the TS-PHOTON series offers a lot of light and features you will hardly find in this price range. 150 mm aperture already show you thousands of deep sky objects with lots of details. Resolve globular clusters into single stars or view details of the well-known nebulae. Thanks to the high quality parabolic primary mirror, the Newtonian will also show you many details on moon and planets. With the optional 2" extension TSV235 you can easily get all eyepieces in focus (see accessory recommendations).

There are many Newtonian telescopes for astrophotography, but this telescope is optimized for observing.
Almost every Newtonian comes with a focus position optimized for astrophotography. The result is usually insufficient illumination due to a too small secondary (or too much shadowing due to a too large one) and an unnecessarily long focus distance. The 150 mm f/6 Newton offers a sufficient working distance for all eyepieces, even those with an extreme focus position. Eyepieces with a deep field aperture should be pulled out of the focuser slightly for focusing. Alternatively, an extension tube (TSV235) can be used.

The advantages of the carbon tube:
The TS-PHOTON Newtonian comes with a high quality carbon tube. Besides the weight advantage of about 0.5 kilograms, the main advantage is the better stability of the focus during temperature changes. This is important for astrophotography. When temperatures drop, metal contracts and the focus wanders. A readjustment of the focus is necessary. The combination of tube and mirror makes it hardly necessary to readjust the focus, even with long exposures. The images become sharper.

Teleskop-Service, together with GSO, has created a Newtonian that gives the visual observer the best possible results. The secondary mirror has a diameter of 45 mm. The result is crisp sharpness on the moon and planets. The image typically matches that of an excellent 4.5" APO refractor and at least that of a very good 105 mm apochromat. The image is even brighter.

With a focus position of just under 50 mm above the 2" sleeve, you can easily focus with any commercially available eyepiece, and the illumination allows even 2" eyepieces to be used at full brightness across the entire image. Speaking of eyepieces: With a focal ratio of 1:6, those of the "Plössl" type can be used without problems and provide less stray light due to fewer lenses.

This instrument comes very close to the visual 6" Newton called for in several astroforums - finally!

The 2" Crayford extension
Simpler Newtonian telescopes have a 1.25" focuser - sometimes not even made of metal. This 2" Crayford focuser is of course made of metal. The focuser tube is mounted on ball bearings. Even heavy cameras and eyepieces are carried without any problems and still sensitive focusing is possible. The focuser comes with a reduction to 1.25". Clamping of 1.25" and 2" accessories is done gently and securely by a ring clamp.

A wonderful entry-level telescope
This PHOTON Newtonian is also ideal for beginners thanks to its simple operation and solid mechanics. We recommend the Skywatcher mount EQ3 or EQ5 for this Newtonian. Both mounts can be found in the accessories section. From the very beginning, this telescope will allow beautiful observations of moon, planets, but also of nebulae and galaxies.

General information and features of the TS-PHOTON Newtonian telescopes:

♦ Bright parabolic optics with excellent contrast and very good sharpness for planetary observation.
♦ High-quality 2" Crayford focuser for 2" and 1.25" accessories - micro reduction available as an option.
♦ Focal point position ideal for DSLR and other cameras.
♦ All common 1.25" and 2" eyepieces can be used without problems.
♦ Brighter image due to forced 94% mirroring on main and secondary mirror.
♦ Motorized focus can be retrofitted at any time.
♦ A 0.5 mm thin stainless steel secondary provides stability. Astrophotographers will envy you for the gossamer and sharp spikes around bright stars.
♦ Adjustable main mirror mount and secondary mirror mount made entirely of metal.

And if you do want to do astrophotography?
Photography of the moon and planets is no problem with eyepiece projection or with the extending effect of a Barlow lens. But if you want to use a coma corrector and possibly a DSLR camera for deep sky photography, then there are two options:

♦ Eyepiece focuser UNCN2S - the short length Crayford focuser fits directly into the mount and replaces the orginal Crayford focuser. The UNCN2S is shorter with only 50 mm height and so you have again space for standard correctors and your camera.

♦ TeleVue coma corrector VIP-2010 - this corrector has the effect of a Barlow lens, it extends the focal length by 15% and puts the focal plane further out. With it, you can also shoot again with all standard DSLR and CCD cameras.
