The Skywatcher Explorer 200PDS Newton is checked and adjusted by us before delivery. The focuser is set.
All Newtonian telescopes should be adjusted before first use and then periodically for a clear image. We adjust all of our Newton before they leave our house.

Telescope Skywatcher Explorer 200PDS 200mm 1000mm f / 5 on N-EQ5 Mount
The Skywatcher Explorer-200PDS has a 200mm aperture at 1000mm focal length and sits on an EQ5 mount with steel tripod.
GUNDSÄTZLICHES:
There are not only alternators in the car! :-) Newton telescopes are considered (and are) basically high-powered telescopes. From f / 5 I define again as particularly bright. When observing the moon, we definitely recommend a filter to reduce the glare effect. - The moon reflects so much light that the light should be attenuated (especially at low magnification). Also note the dark adaptation of the eye. For example, if I want to observe deep sky objects after the moon, the adaptation of the eye takes a certain amount of time before I can perceive the much fainter ones again in detail. And that brings us to the objects that such a Newton can show in abundance - visually and photographically! Deep sky objects (ie galaxies, nebulae, star clusters ...) do not require a high magnification, but a corresponding light gathering power. For photography, this also means the shortest possible exposure time for a shot. Planets (and moon) require a higher magnification and thus a Barlow lens ???? for focal length extension. So with this device also beautiful details on the moon and planets can be seen! So you do not have to do without this field of application: An (almost) all-rounder among the telescopes focusing on deep sky.
The telescope
The parabolic primary mirror in conjunction with the relatively small secondary mirror ensures a good correction of the image field / focus and thus sharpness and contrast richness. Therefore, not only a bright image of deep sky objects is a pleasure. In the depths of space, travel on worth discovering voyages, such as to the galaxies (M81 and M82) in the Big Bear, the Leo Triplet (M66) or the globular cluster M13. Moon and Paneten offer a wealth of detail (fine craters and grooves on the moon, cloud bands on Jupiter, the rings of Saturn), which will inspire you in every area of astronomical observations. Due to the versatility of this telescope and the reasonable price, this device is also very interesting for school astronomy.
The telescope has a 2 "Crayford focuser and in addition this PDS variant has a 1:10 micro reduction for high-precision focusing, providing both stability and space for the easy adaptation of all current cameras on the market A reduction to 1.25 "plug diameter is included in the scope of delivery and so all the usual 1.25 '' eyepieces can be used for this telescope.
2 "eyepieces give a beautiful impression of the celestial objects - especially with a large field of vision, nebulae and galaxies appear in a wide environment, which is particularly appealing because the objects in the room" float. "If you have less field of view, you can also see the details of the celestial objects However, the three-dimensional effect is less pronounced than the larger field of view, and in the case of planets this is also relevant to Jupiter because the constellation of Jupiter's moons is more beautiful in relation to the planet to a change of the constellation after some observation time. Details on Jupiter itself (cloud bands, large red spot) are in a 1 1/4 "eyepiece but then again equivalent in the impression - or recommended for short-focal eyepieces also here the spatial environment is no longer relevant.
The Skywatcher N-EQ5 is not only a good base for observation, it also provides solid upscale astrophotography. A motor tracking is necessary for this. With the mount long exposure is possible with appropriate accessories. This will allow you to successfully take pictures of nebula objects and galaxies, moon and planetary images are no problem.
In the basic configuration we offer here, the EQ5 is suitable for medium-sized telescopes. The mount is ready for the successful observation of astronomical (and earthly) objects. With appropriate accessories, the EQ-5 can be expanded to the powerful GoTo mount.
Load capacity:
The EQ5 carries Newton telescopes up to 200mm aperture and refractor telescopes up to 150mm aperture. It can be loaded with devices up to approx. 10kg net weight.
For astrophotography with longer exposure times we recommend the EQ 6 mount.
-Product advantages:
+ For experienced beginners and advanced + 200mm aperture with f / 5 provides high light collection power + Enough back focus for all popular cameras + Suitable for moon, planets and many deep-sky objects + 2 "Crayford focuser with reduction to 1.25" mating diameter and PDS 1:10 micro reduction
To note:
- For extensive astrophotography or when using a guide tube should be on a larger Mount with sturdy tripod to be changed - For lunar observations, we also recommend a lunar filter to protect the eyes. - For planetary observations, we recommend a 10mm eyepiece and a Barlow lens - Not suitable for landscape observations. For this we recommend a refractor in this price range. - The field tripod needs 4-6 seconds after being touched / shaken. Release time for a "wobble-free" observation.
