Test and Adjustment Skywatcher Parabol Newton 114 / 500mm tube + optics The Skywatcher 114 / 500mm OTA is checked and adjusted by us before delivery. The focuser is set.
All Newton telescopes should be adjusted before first use and then regularly to get a sharp picture. We adjust all of our Newton before they leave our house.

... a Newton with good imaging performance for field observations, handy and an ideal travel telescope ...
This very compact Newton from the new Explorer series already offers through 114mm opening a good light collection capacity. In comparison. to a Newton with 76mm aperture already more than twice as much light is collected (the surface of the optics is crucial here!).
Bigger nebulae, star clusters and galaxies are also brighter and more details become visible
Due to its parabolic main mirror, this device is not only a good light collector, it also shows many details on the moon and planets.
Many providers offer short-building Newtons with comparable opening, even without a corrector, but with a spherical mirror as the main mirror.
We disapprove of these devices, because in our experience, from about 50x magnification, they do not bring up a really sharp image and are therefore not suitable for the moon and planets.
Also often an under-dimensioned secondary mirror is installed, which then reduces the usable opening and thus reduces the performance of the device.
This bright skywatcher Newton has a parabolic main mirror and is thus able to represent really diffraction-limited ** and implement the theoretical resolution in practice. Only then is the device also suitable for viewing the moon and planets. Here we recommend the use of a Barlow lens to achieve higher magnifications.
Together with the bright and contrasting picture, beautiful details show up here.
Brighter deep-sky objects, such as the Orion nebula and the Andromeda galaxy are beautiful viewing objects. At 114mm opening I already have a good light collecting capacity. Therefore, galaxies and nebulae are visible in the high-contrast image. Star clusters show their beauty and clearly stand out against the darker background.
Basics:
When buying an astronomical telescope, be careful not to save at the wrong end because of fewer euros! The valuable hobby of astronomy is too precious to "stifle" it already in the beginning by magelhaftes equipment. If the device combination "Wackelskram" and has (moreover) a poor image quality, you lose the desire to discover without it, which valuable experiences are possible even with small devices. The interest in astronomy combined with knowledge of physics and optics, which also promotes school knowledge, unfortunately shrinks proportionally with disappointment in observation. Therefore, we can only encourage you again and again to seek our expert advice before purchasing. Your wishes are important to us! Please read our information under the heading "Advantages - Disadvantages - Interesting facts for beginners and advanced" and / or ask directly in personal contact.
For example, with this device you have a combination of optics and durable (and low-vibration) mount. Focusing is not a painful procedure and the image of the object is sharp and detailed. The tracking of the astronomical object to compensate for the earth's rotation is sensitive and intuitive with the flexible waves. The joy of watching and discovering is not clouded here! If you later want more and buy a larger device, this combination will not lose any value for you. As a travel telescope or device for "fast-licking" (if you only want to look a short time) or for large-scale objects, for which you can not enlarge so high anyway, it will always come back into use. Not to forget as a comfortable travel device. So a good long term investment that you will not regret, even if you increase your equipment.
Delivery:
- Parabolic Newton 114 / 500mm - Light point finder "Starpointer" for easy finding of objects - Clamps
* OTA is an abbreviation and stands for: optical tube assemlby translates as: tube with optics (without further accessories)
** diffraction-limited means that all light rays of a point source of light, viewed geometrically, reunite at a point smaller than the diffraction disk of the telescope used (Otterstedt).
