Test and adjustment Skywatcher telescope 130/900 Explorer-130M Newton EQ-2 Mount with motor
The Skywatcher Explorer 130M is checked and adjusted by us before delivery. The focuser is set.

All Newton telescopes should be adjusted before first use and then regularly
to get a sharp picture. We adjust all of our Newton before they leave our house.

How we adjust: About us

Skywatcher telescope 130/900 Explorer-130M Newton EQ-2 mount with motor

The optics of the N 130/900:

This Skywatcher 130/900 Newton mirror telescope uses a tried and tested design for over 300 years, named after its inventor and first user: Isaak Newton. Especially for beginners and young people a very original and suitable implementation of the sky observation with optical devices.
Newtonian telescopes are particularly popular because they have more light output in the same price range due to their larger aperture, such as lens telescopes (refractors).
Furthermore, these telescopes provide a clear picture.
The telescope has a 130mm aperture with 900mm focal length (f6.9) and collects 344 times more light than the human eye. It provides 30% more light collection power than, for example, a Newton with 144mm opening. Its 260x, maximum meaningful achievable magnification, offers beautiful moon and detailed planetary observations (like the rings of Saturn, moon shadow games on Jupiter or its big red spot) and also interesting deep sky excursions to brighter objects, such as the Orion Fog, the open double star cluster (h and chi) in Perseus or even the galaxy groups M81.

Basics: When buying an astronomical telescope, be careful not to save at the wrong end because of fewer euros! The valuable hobby of astronomy is too precious to "stifle" it already in the beginning by magelhaftes equipment. If the device combination "Wackelskram" and has (moreover) a poor image quality, you lose the desire to discover without it, which valuable experiences are possible even with small devices. The interest in astronomy combined with knowledge of physics and optics, which also promotes school knowledge, unfortunately shrinks proportionally with disappointment in observation. Therefore, we can only encourage you again and again to seek our expert advice before purchasing. Your wishes are important to us!
Please read our information under the heading "Advantages - Disadvantages - Interesting facts for beginners and advanced" and / or ask directly in personal contact.

For example, with this device you have a combination of optics and durable (and low-vibration) mount. Focusing is not a painful procedure and the image of the object is sharp and detailed. The tracking of the astronomical object to compensate for the earth's rotation is comfortable with the enclosed motor set !. The constant speed of the tracking keeps the object in the field of view of the eyepiece for a long time without contact if the axes of the mount are in good alignment. The joy of watching and discovering is not clouded here!
If you later want more and buy a larger device, this combination will not lose any value for you. As a travel telescope or device for "fast-licking" (if you only want to look a short time) or for large-scale objects, for which you can not enlarge so high anyway, it will always come back into use. Not to forget as a comfortable travel device. So a good long term investment that you will not regret, even if you increase your equipment.

Scope of delivery of the optics:

optical tube with 130mm aperture and 900mm focal length
Red dot finder
Eyepieces Super 25mm, Super 10mm (1.25 ")
2x Barlow Lens (1.25 ")

The mount EQ-2:

The parallactic EQ2 mount of the telescope is used for Skywatcher telescope explorer on EQ2exact tracking of the observation object. Aligned to the Polarstern, with the manual fine adjustment in the right ascension and declination axis objects can be sensitively centered and tracked. The correct pile height or latitude must be set for this.
The corresponding counterweight is used to optimally balance the optics. The extendable field tripod with storage space complete the equipment, which is very light and compact and thus fits into almost any travel bag.
The structure can be made easily and quite quickly by newcomers and children.

A suitable device for school astronomy.

Scope of delivery of the mount:

parallactic mount EQ-2
stable aluminum tripod (height adjustable from 71cm to 121cm)
shelf
balanced counterweight

With this model you will get an EQ-2 engine and a corresponding manual control unit in addition to the mount.
A "jerk free tracking is thus provided, which means that the first astrophotographs of the moon and the planets are possible with a CCD camera! r.p.
