A special gift for Christmas, which is certainly one of the highlights of an amateur astronomer. As an idea: Get together with others and give the recipient an extraordinary pleasure.

The C8 is the classic among the Schmidt Cassegrain telescopes. For decades, these devices have been used by amateur astronomers. Celestron has a unique experience with this device type. The result is a modern telescope for universal use with years of tradition.

The device offers with 203mm opening an impressive performance in the sky. Nevertheless, the tube with only 5.7 kg dead weight and a length of about 45cm is still very portable. We do not know any other way to keep 20cm opening so compact and portable.

The C8 will already show you the Jupiter moons as slices, the Cassini division of the Saturn rings looks like punched out. The XLT coating also displays nebulae and galaxies with high contrast and maximum brightness. For example, you can already resolve M13, a globular cluster outside of our galaxy, into single stars.

The focus on internal focusing:

The benefits of focusing by adjusting the main mirror are undisputed. The only drawback, tilting the mirror, during the movement (shifting) Celestron has been able to solve. No annoying shifting affects the accuracy of the focus.

Astrophotography with the C8:

The Celestron C8 is a powerful device for astrophotography. Due to the large opening of 203mm and the good diffraction-limited working optics succeed impressive pictures of the moon and planets. We also offer a focal length shortening and Felbenbnung for the C8 (see "recommended accessories"). The following shots have been taken with the C8 and a field-bending lens (see larger pictures under "Testimonials").

XLT coating: Thanks to this multilayer anti-reflection coating, the Celestron lenses have a particularly high light transmission. In the particularly important wavelength range around 500nm up to 10% more light is brought into the eyepiece. Especially here, the human eye is also very sensitive.
Advantages of the Celestron Schmidt Cassegrain system:
