The optics Meade ACF-SC:

Almost every major telescope worldwide is now a Ritchey-Chrétien, including NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. The technology of the professionals can now also belong to you. Meade's new Advanced Coma Free System - very accurate and powerful - is within reach of all ambitious amateur astronomers, astrophotographers and CCD photographers! It delivers perfectly sharp star images at the highest level of professional observatories across the entire field of view. The secret of the coma free system is - as the name implies - the absence of the coma, an aberration in which the starlight is distorted outside the center of the picture and pulled apart into a comet-like tail. Whether observation or photography: Meade's ACF-Cassegrain optics are far ahead of conventional serial telescopes. It offers a fantastic imaging quality previously achieved only by Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes and other exotic systems, but which cost a multiple of the Meade devices.

The Meade Starlock is a highly accurate system that performs three important functions:

Polar alignment
Automatic alignment for Goto
Autoguiding for astrophotography




The two built-in cameras with different optics play together perfectly. The wide-field camera provides a rough positioning. The near-field camera can then position objects with an accuracy of up to one minute of arc.

The alignment also takes place via these two cameras. They bring the necessary alignment stars to the very center, as the basis for an optimal GoTo.

For maximum tracking accuracy, the StarLock works with a permanent and automatic autoguiding. As soon as the telescope returns to tracking mode after a movement (for example, after the positioning of a celestial object), the near-field camera automatically searches for a suitable guide star up to a maximum brightness of 11 magnits. This is then tracked as long as the telescope is moved again.

The Drift Alignment Assistant allows for optimal polar alignment if you operate Starlock on a parallactic mount: the telescope moves to a matching star. Using a 30-second long-field camera, the exact deviation of the telescope from the true celestial pole is calculated. The mount the previously calculated true position. With the help of the fine adjustment of the pile height cradle, the telescope can now be adjusted exactly to this point - the alignment at the earth axis is perfect!
