The set is exactly the right one for those who want something more (light intensity and comfort) to start the hobby. It impresses with fast construction and comfortable comprehensive deployment.
This Dobson from Skywatcher has a large 200mm (8 inch) aperture, 1200mm focal length and a parabolic main mirror. The opening of 20 cm provides more light collection performance compared to the "smaller" brother with 15cm opening.
This makes the 8 "Dobson a perfect all-rounder for beginners and advanced players. Thus, both detailed moon and planet observation are possible, such as the atmosphere bands of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, where the Cassini division is recognizable with good seeing.
The moon offers fascinating details with a wealth of craters and grooves. Even deep sky objects are good to observe, such as the galaxies (M81, M82) in the Big Dipper, the Leo triplet (M66) or the gl
obular cluster M13, not to mention the Orion Nebula.The telescope sits on a so-called Rockerbox, which offers a stable, wobble-free substructure. Since the tube is screwed to the Rockerbox (mount), this is one of the most stable Dobson that you can buy.
In other Dobson the tube is hung or placed in the Rockerbox. The desired sky objects can be visited by sliding on the tube. The tripod plate runs on plain bearings and the telescope can be rotated by the side handles in the desired direction (azimuth).
At the same time you can control the movement in the angular orientation (height) and clamp it. At the Rockbox there is a storage place for eyepieces.
The Newton has a precise 2 '' Crayford extract, including a reduction to 1.25 ''. This Crayford extract is superior to the conventional tooth and drive of cheaper telescopes, it is more durable and allows a much more accurate adjustment of sharpness. Since the drawer is ball-bearing, heavy and accurate adjustments are guaranteed for heavy accessories. The adaptation of a camera is not a problem.
