Askar V - Multi-Focal length Apochromat-Set

With the "V", Askar has brought a modular telescope set onto the market, which has several focal lengths and aperture ratios.
This is achieved using a divisible tube with an eyepiece extension, two lenses and the associated extender, flattener and reducer.



As usual from Askar, optical and mechanical quality was also valued. All threads are perfect, the OAZ has no play and corresponding threads have been provided under the OAZ for friends of the ZWO EAF, which enable easy adaptation.



A thread for 2" filters has been integrated into the M48 adapters of the correctors, which allows them to be used without a filter drawer or filter wheel.




From the M48 thread, the correctors require a working distance of 55mm to the sensor.
Full-frame cameras can also be adapted directly via the M54 thread, which creates an additional 18mm back focus for possibly even more accessories.
This results in a working distance of 73mm to the sensor from an M54 thread.



In detail, it is an 80mm / f6.25 or 60mm, f6 triplet lens which is screwed to the backend / tube with OAZ.
Also included in the package are the associated;
-x1.2 Extender, focal length extension
-Flattener, without affecting the focal length
-x0.75 Reducer, focal length reduction

The correctors are adjusted depending on the lens used. Using two internal threads and markings, these can be adapted to the respective lens in no time at all.




Depending on the configuration, the connection of the 80/60 mm lens with the x1.2 extender, flattener or x0.75 reducer results in the following focal lengths:

270mm f4.5 / 60mm with reducer
375mm f4.7 / 80mm with reducer
360mm f6 / 60mm with flattener
500mm f6.25 / 80mm with flattener
432mm f7.2 / 60mm with extender
600mm f7.5 / 80mm with extender

First short tests have shown that the flattener works very well with a camera and full-frame sensor, such as e.g. B. the Touptek SkyEye62 or ZWO ASI6200, which both use the IMX455 sensor, works.
Field and color correction are corrected very nicely.

Tests with the extender and the reducer are still pending, but we are confident that the extender can also be used very well with these cameras. The reducer could possibly be suitable up to a maximum of APS-C, which I will show in practice.

All of these possible combinations make the Askar V, in conjunction with the respective sensors, a great all-rounder that is suitable for larger objects, such as extensive nebulae / reflection nebulae, as well as smaller galaxies. The different focal lengths offer an interesting possibility to bring the objects onto the sensor according to your own ideas.
