Experience and recordings with Celestron C5 on Star Adventurer GTI

Thank you very much. I'm happy to give feedback. I'm more than satisfied, and it's a lot of fun. I'm particularly impressed with the optical quality of the C5.

I'm currently taking advantage of the clear nights to experiment with the C5. I've mounted the C5 on the Star Adventurer GTI. Since I can currently only work from the balcony, I unfortunately can't take longer exposures yet. Nevertheless, I'm already impressed by how well the GTI keeps planets in focus, for example, even with a 2x Barlow. Attached are a few initial shots. One is Jupiter with a 2x Barlow (I still need to increase the distance between the lens and the camera) and the Orion Nebula (0.63 reducer, 120x10s with CLS filter).

About the C5 itself:
It's great that, thanks to its low weight, I haven't had any problems balancing the counterweights in any setup so far. However, the advantage of the short design is also a disadvantage when it comes to transport. If you mount spacers and a camera on the C5, the whole thing quickly becomes very tail-heavy, which is impossible to balance with the C5 alone (you quickly reach the rear edge of the rail). So I mounted a small 300g weight at the front that can be moved. That's how it works. As I said, the C5's light weight makes this no problem. (Image attached).

The autoguider will also be a bit of a challenge. I'll see how I manage that. So far, I've always had an on-axis setup. I'm still hesitant about off-axis, as I'll add even more weight to the rear. We'll see, the overall weight won't be a problem, but balancing it will be an art.
