Products description

Removal of the standard secondary mirror spider and conversion to CYCK from MAXGEEK

Product Description
For fans of stable alignment, we recommend the CYCK secondary mirror spider from MAXGEEK. We carry it for the SkyWatcher 150 P, PDS, and Quattro 150P, as well as for the 200 P, PDS, and Quattro 8S.

The CNC-milled struts are considerably thinner at just 2.2mm compared to the previous version (5mm). This should be of particular interest to photographers.

The metal spider can effectively improve the strength of the secondary mirror holder, facilitate optical axis calibration, increase the rigidity of the optical tube of 200mm/150mm telescopes, and improve imaging performance.

Goal: -> Achieve high alignment stability.

Solution: -> Remove the standard secondary mirror spider and convert it to the CYCK secondary mirror spider from MAXGEEK.

Tools: ->Screwdriver and Allen key

Challenge: 2/5 stars
1/5 stars: Can be done even with two "left" hands
2/5 stars: Can be removed with simple tools
3/5 stars: A steady hand and a cup of coffee...
4/5 stars: Hats off! Read the manual and pray.
5/5 stars: Better call 089 / 680 50 200!

Procedure:
The conversion without adjustment is actually quite simple.

1. First, loosen the screws on the front panel and carefully pull it off the tube.

2. Then remove the screws from the existing spider.

3. When loosening the last screw, it is recommended to hold the secondary mirror with one hand and wear soft gloves (e.g., serving gloves).

4. After loosening the last screw, carefully lift the secondary mirror out of the tube.
5. Now, with the same care (plus gloves :-)), carefully lift the new secondary mirror into the tube and position it toward the OAZ (who would have thought...).
6. Lightly tighten the included screws (don't forget the anodized washers, they look cool too...).
7. Finally, position the secondary mirror in the center (a shortened ruler may help to get the center exactly) and then tighten it.
8. Next, adjust the secondary mirror, which we will describe in more detail in a separate section.

A look at the secondary mirror mount at MaxGeek shows the screws and springs (Figure 3).
This allows adjustment with tension and counter-tension (spring tension) and results in significantly greater adjustment stability.

Thank you for your interest and reading.
Your telescope specialists wish you clear skies!
