Products description

Sky-Watcher Skymax 127 primary mirror falls into the telescope

Problem:
The fine focus mechanism on the Sky-Watcher Skymax 127 was removed to clean the interior of the telescope.
Since the primary mirror is only held in place by the fine focus mechanism, it fell into the telescope and tore off the lens hood of the secondary mirror.

Solution:
The lens hood was reattached with small pieces of double-sided tape.
Then the primary mirror was screwed back onto the cover through the fine focus mechanism and reinserted.
The cover should not be screwed in completely at first, as otherwise it will be difficult to reinsert the rubber ring.
Using the tension and compression screws, the distance between the cover and the body can be adjusted so that the rubber ring fits snugly.
After that, the cover can be screwed in further.
