The EQ8 is characterized by:

optical encoders for both axes, so the control does not lose the alignment in a manual adjustment - you can move the axes either by means of the precise and powerful stepper motors or manually. The computer processes the information and the alignment remains intact. Park your telescope in the HOME POSITION, which is automatically approached. So this mount is also to use for remote controlled (remote) observatories.

Quiet and sturdy stepper motors: Transmission deviations are greatly reduced as the drive acts directly on the worm axis.

The successfully tested GoTo control: the Skywatcher SynScan control guarantees trouble-free operation.

P.E.C. - electronic reduction of the periodic screw error: accurate tracking even without autoguiding becomes the electronic, a possible screw error is electronically reduced to a few arcseconds. An autoguiding connection also has this mount to achieve the ultimate precision in long-term astrophotography. This will make the P.E.C. no longer needed.
