TS Optics ADC Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector

TS-Optics ADC for sharper planetary photos and observations
When planets or the moon are close to the horizon, one often only observes a fuzzy disk with a color shift, as if through a prism. This effect is caused by the refraction of light in the atmosphere, because the light from the object has to cover a much longer path through the atmosphere when it is near the horizon. You often have to wait hours for the sharpness to improve and sometimes the planet stays close to the horizon, depending on the position of the planet's orbit.

The TS-Optics ADC is the solution. Simply attached between the camera or eyepiece and the focuser, it ensures sharp planetary photos - even near the horizon.

How does the ADC - Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector work:
Our atmosphere refracts light to different degrees, depending on the wavelength. Red light is refracted differently than blue light. The closer the object is to the horizon, the stronger the effect.

With the adjusting lever on the ADC you adjust the two prisms in the corrector and thus counteract the effect of the earth's atmosphere, you neutralize this color shift. You can make the adjustment during observation or photography. So you see the effect immediately. The color error disappears and the detail recognition and resolution increase.

The connection to the telescope and the connection of cameras and eyepieces:
The TS-Optics ADC consists of three parts that are connected by a T2 (M42x0.75) thread.

♦ 1.25" barrel with a male T2 thread
♦ The center piece, the corrector, with a female T2 thread on the telescope side and a female T2 thread on the camera/eyepiece side
♦ 1.25" adapter suitable for eyepieces, with an attached T2 external thread for further screw adaptations

You can therefore easily connect the TS-Optics ADC to any telescope with a 1.25" or T2 thread. And you can also connect all cameras and eyepieces to the eyepiece side via the T2 thread or 1.25".

The equipment features and advantages of the TS-ADC at a glance:

♦ Easy connection via T2 and 1.25" on both sides
♦ 30 mm optically usable diameter (free opening)
♦ Up to 99% light transmission through high-quality coating of the prisms - the planetary images remain bright and rich in contrast, as usual
♦ Easy to use - no need to disassemble eyepiece or camera
♦ Usable on all telescopes, best results are obtained at f/10 or slower. For faster telescopes we recommend the use of Barlow lenses (see accessories)

Directions:
For the TSADCN, TS has provided instructions in German as a PDF: adc.pdf

Optics: two multi-coated wedge-shaped prisms that are twisted against each other
Connection telescope side: T2 internal thread (M42x0.75) and 1.25" receptacle with filter thread
Connection camera and eyepiece side: T2 external thread (M42x0.75) and 1.25" mount
Overall length of the ADC without the connection adapter: 29 mm with T2 internal thread (female) on both sides
Coating: Multi-coating on all optical surfaces
Weight: 175 grams
Usability: Visual and photographic

♦ Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector
♦ Two connection adapters to 1.25"
♦ Dust caps

With the TS ADC, your lunar and planetary photos and observations will be sharper and more detailed, even when close to the horizon.
♦ Corrects the color shift (dispersion) of the atmosphere - less color fringing, more sharpness and detail on planets

♦ Easy to operate with the eyepiece attached - just twist the lever and watch the sharpness improve in the eyepiece or in the camera

♦ The principle behind the ADC is simple - two prisms are twisted against each other and thus compensate for the color shift caused by the atmosphere (see figure)

♦ A ring scale ensures reproducible settings

♦ Simple adaptation on the telescope side and eyepiece side via 1.25" plug connection and T2 thread

♦ Ultra flat design - the TS ADC can even be connected to binocular attachments. The overall length from T2 to T2 thread is only 29 mm

♦ Can be used, among other things, for observing and photographing planets, the moon or even double stars
