ZWO ASI462MC USB 3.0 Color Astro Camera with 2.1 MP CMOS Sensor and 2.9 µm Pixels
The ASI462MC is the latest color planetary camera from ZWO, which uses the 12-bit ADC sensor Sony IMX462 in 1/2.8" format. The pixel size of 2.9 um allows a depth of 11.2 ke- with a total of 2.1 MPixels.
The camera is particularly powerful in infrared. With the high sensitivity, extremely low readout noise and high frame rate, this camera will provide great performance for planetary, lunar and solar photography.
Like the other cameras, the ASI462MC convinces with versatile application possibilities, like:
♦ Planetary photography - here, the extremely high frame rates help in data acquisition for stacking,
while IR luminance images reduce the influence of air turbulence already for each individual frame♦ Lunar photography - the qualities appreciated in planetary photography are also useful for photographing details on the moon
♦ Solar photography (with suitable filtering!) - the high frame rate reduces the effect of seeing
♦ Deep-sky photography (the camera is uncooled, but the CMOS sensor offers good noise performance)
♦ Autoguiding camera
♦ Thanks to
oaCapture the camera can also be used with a Mac
Comparison ASI462MC to ASI290MC:
In general, ASI462MC and ASI290MC have very similar parameters, but ASI462MC has lower readout noise and a higher QE value.
But especially the quantum efficiency in the infrared around 850 nm is about twice as high as that of the ASI290MC, which makes it predestined for IR luminance imaging to suppress bad seeing. Properties and advantages of the ZWO ASI462MC camera:
♦ Universally usable
♦ Easy adaptation through T2 threaded connection
♦ Resolution: 1936*1096 pixels
♦
136.1 frames per second at 10 bit ADC (full resolution)
♦ Long time exposure up to 2000 seconds possible
♦ Autoguider connection
♦ Extremely low readout noise and very high sensitivity especially in infrared
♦ Aluminum housing with 2" and T2 connection
♦ With 2.1 mm all-sky wide-angle lens
♦ Supplied with AR clear glass filter - full transmission even in the infrared. If the IR is to be blocked, an IR cut filter is required.
