♦ Pixel: 3.8 µm pixels - 4656 x 3520 pixels.

♦ Short download time due to USB 3.0 - can also be used with USB 2.0

♦ AR protection filter built in - full transmission even in infrared

♦ Connectors: T2, 1.25" and 2" available

♦ Sensational sensitivity due to the state-of-the-art Panasonic CMOS sensor

♦ The camera can be used for moon and planets but also for deep sky photography very well

♦ Low power consumption

ZWO ASI1600 black and white CMOS camera for astrophotography.
ASI cameras stand for very good workmanship and have modern CMOS sensors built in. The camera is very versatile, excellent for solar system objects. Due to the low-noise CMOS sensor, deep-sky images are also well possible.

With 21.9 mm sensor diagonal and a high resolution by 3.8 µm pixels, the ASI1600MMC SW camera offers a very high detail resolution with a large field of view at the same time.

MONO CCD cameras have the advantage of higher sensitivity and resolution over color cameras. However, the effort to obtain a color image is higher (L-RGB process).

Advantages and product features of the ASI 1600 Mono camera:

♦ USB 3.0 for a fast download - can also be operated with USB 2.0.
♦ Sensitive CMOS sensor with 21.9 mm diagonal - 16 megapixels
♦ High resolution due to 3.8 µm pixels
♦ Distance T2 connection thread to camera sensor: 17.5 mm
♦ Supplied with AR clear glass filter - full transmission even in the infrared. If the IR is to be blocked, an IR blocking filter is required.

Application areas of the ASI 1600 Mono:

The camera is uncooled (like an SLR camera). Impressive lunar and planetary images are possible with the camera. The sensitive sensor allows to easily eliminate seeing by using ultra-short exposure times. Videos are also possible.

But also the use in the deep sky area (nebulae, galaxies, star clusters) is very promising. Connect the camera to your telescope and in less than 60 seconds you will see faint nebulae and galaxies on your computer monitor. The sensitivity is much higher than with conventional CCD cameras or DSLR cameras. Even without cooling the image remains smooth. Due to the short exposure times, negative effects like seeing or tracking errors are significantly reduced. You can even do without a tracking control. Even "lucky imaging" is possible with the camera.
