Celestron CGX - parallactic GoTo mount
The Mount CGX: the new standard for mobile astronomy and astrophotography!

The CGX is an all-new equatorial mount, with a load-bearing capacity of 25kg, but is designed for mobile use.

New product design:

♦ The fifth wheel is closer to the right ascension axis. The thus reduced lever provides more rigidity and a better vibration behavior. The declination engine also serves as a counterweight.
♦ The CGX is very comfortable to carry thanks to integrated handles. Also, the tripod can be folded easily, without the tray must be unscrewed. The clamps on the tripod legs are attached to the inside so you can not get caught in the screw handles with your trouser leg. Thanks to the notches in the tripod legs, you will quickly find your preferred extension length of the legs again and again. The new improved tripod also has a longer stand, making it even more stable.
♦ The cabling of the motors is done inside the mount. Only the hand control box and the power cable are free. The connections of these two cables are mounted so that the jacks are not moved with the mount. All in all, this design ensures that no tripping hazards occur or a cable can break off.
♦ Large handles for the two clamps of the axles, for the azimuthal setting and for the polar axis. The inclination of the pole axis can be changed even under load. It must also be opened no clamps, which change the setting again when tightening.
♦ The mounting saddle is also equipped with large, glove-friendly handles. The saddle accommodates prism rails according to both Losmandy and Vixen standards.
♦ The CGX can track objects up to 20 ° beyond the meridian. An automatic stop prevents the mount from spinning completely: no collision with the tripod and no internal cable break is possible.

♦ The improved high-torque motors ensure clean start-up and tracking even at high loads.
♦ The toothed belt drive ensures a short reaction time and minimizes backlash, which is noticeable when changing the direction of rotation. The mount drives quietly, without the painful shrieks of pure gear drives.
♦ A spring pressure mechanism ensures uniform contact pressure of the worm wheel and worm shaft. This reduces friction and optimizes the running of the gearbox.

Improved electronics:

♦ Optical encoders register the position of the mount. So the mount can be returned to its original position at any time and so the engines can be stopped before the mount reaches its mechanical swing limit.
♦ The new control software is a joint development of Celestron and Planewave Instruments. This ensures a very accurate GoTo and further benefits, especially in remote operation.
♦ The CGX is equipped with the latest NexStar + hand control. This has a USB port for easy connection to the PC. An internal clock stores the last setting of observation location and time.
♦ Additional accessories can be connected to two AUX ports, such as the SkyPortal module. Of course, there is also an autoguider port.

You do not need a pole finder with the All-Star Polar Alignment integrated in the control. You can simply roughly align the mount and fine tune by adjusting any star. The excellent mechanical design allows this even at full load. The initialization of the Goto, the Star Alignment, is a breeze with all new Celestron mounts.
