♦ Suitable for Skywatcher EQ3, EQ3-2, EQM-35 and Celestron CG4 mounts.
♦ Improved version with screw connection to mount
♦ Precise Polar Alignment of the mount (for e.g. astrophotography) within a few minutes.
♦ For using the Polar Scope you need an unobstructed view of the Polar star.
♦ This new version uses the Kochab method, which can easily found in the internet, for showing the correct position of the Polar star on the reticle.
♦ This Polar scope also works on the Southern Hemisphere, by using the position of sigma Octantis.
A Polar Scope makes Polar Alignment easy. Within only a few minutes you achieve the precision required for Astrophotography. Therefore you need an unobstructed view of the Polar star!
The Polar Scope is screwed into the Right Ascension axis. The scope´s optics are already adjusted. However, you can finetune the Polar Scope with grub screws at the side.
This Polar Scope is compatible with the following mounts:
♦ Skywatcher NEQ3, EQ3, EQ3-2, EQM-35, HEQ5
♦ Celestron CG4
Easy to use (example for northern hemisphere):
After a coarse alignment, Polaris is positioned on the inner circle in a way that it is touched by an imaginary line from the central cross to a real star called Kochab - ready!
Suggestions for light-polluted skies or limited view:
With lower requirements, it is possible to do the alignment in twilight: Use an appropriate astronomy app on your smart phone or tablet PC, but hold the device correctly. Polaris is bright enough to bee seen in the polar finder if the mount is roughly aligned to the polar axis via bubble level and compass.
On request, you can get a construction manual for a simple device, similar to a rotatable star chart, which helps to get the right postion of polaris without any constellations. It works only on the northern hemisphere, as Polaris has to be visible.
