Aluminum dew cap for 6" / 8" / 9.25" / 11" / 14"
The Celestron aluminum dew caps with dust protection cover are an indispensable accessory when using your Schmidt-Cassegrain. The dew shield reduces the cooling of the Schmidt plate to the night sky, keeping the temperature above the dew point longer, which prevents dew from forming on the optics. In addition, the aluminum dew shield increases image contrast as it prevents stray light from entering the telescope, allowing for better observation and astrophotography. The aluminum dew shield fits perfectly on the 6" / 8" / 9.25" / 11" / 14" Celestron telescopes. The outside of the dew shield is a solid aluminum cylinder that does not deform or bend. Inside, the velvet lining absorbs stray light and moisture , which allows for optimal contrast when observing and photographing. Attach the dew shield to your telescope with the two adjustable clips for a perfect fit. The dust cover is also made of light and durable aluminium. When you are not using the telescope, you can use the cover simply put it on the dew cap to protect the Schmidt plate from dust and pollen.With the dust cover on and you can also quickly and easily record darks for astrophotography.If you are using astrophotography with a Schmidt-Cassegrain or EdgeHD with a Fastar/Hyperstar attachment or with If you are running a RASA, you're probably familiar with the problem of cables hanging out of the dew shield. With this outlet you can keep the necessary cables (including those for our dew protection heating rings) in check without light penetrating the system. There are also dovetail bar cutouts on the top and bottom of the telescope to allow the dew shield to fit any configuration.

EXCHANGE PROTECTION WITH CELESTRON

Not only in autumn are they a familiar sight on many telescopes: long dew caps, often enough supported by heating bands that have only one purpose: to prevent humidity from condensing on the optics as dew. Without dew protection, an observation night ends prematurely if the temperature drops below the dew point. Passive dew protection A dew cap is the most common and cheapest protection against a defrosted lens. It should be at least twice the diameter of the opening it protects. With lens telescopes, it is usually a fixed part of the tube and can be removed or inserted for transport. This is not a problem with the long and comparatively slim tube of a refractor. The situation is different with Schmidt-Cassegrains with their compact tubes with a large opening: Here the dew shield is similar in size to the tube itself. Therefore there are two common types of dew shields for Schmidt-Cassegrains: Flexible dew shields are made of a light, weatherproof material and are brought into shape with a Velcro fastener. They fold flat for transport to save space, providing a cheap and easy way to keep observation nights from ending prematurely.
