Smart dew protection control 2x

When fighting Tau, you should rely on intelligence instead of pure power. The Smart Dew Protection Control 2x extends your battery life by optimizing power consumption for up to two dew heaters. The controller collects and analyzes information in real time to heat your optics just enough to prevent condensation.

The dew protection control 2x has two connections for controlling two heating elements at the same time. You can use one port to heat the telescope while the other port heats a second telescope, finder, guide scope, eyepiece, or other accessory.

The controller also has an additional 12V DC output that allows you to connect another 12V DC device, such as a B. your mount, can supply power.

The control works seamlessly with the dew protection heating rings for 5", 6", 8", 9.25", 11" and 14" (various versions / variants available), which have a built-in thermistor (temperature sensor) that monitors the temperature of the Schmidt plate of your Celestron Schmid-Cassegrain, EdeHD or RASA measures. Third-party heating tapes or belts are also compatible. All you need is the temperature probe for smart current and dew protection control (#825926, € 19) (available separately).
Intelligent controls

At the heart of the controller is a powerful microprocessor that collects information from the sensors, calculates the data and automatically adjusts your heating elements. The control unit monitors the ambient temperature and humidity using the integrated environmental sensor and monitors the temperatures of the heating elements using temperature probes.

You can operate the dew protection control twice as an independent accessory. If you want to view the controller's data and make manual settings, you can connect it to your Celestron telescope's hand controller or your PC. The control works with NexStar+ or StarSense handheld controllers running the latest firmware, or with the Celestron CPWI telescope control software, which is included with every Celestron mount.
Performance

The smart dew protection control 2x is operated with a 12V DC battery (for example with the PowerTank Pro LiFePo4 12V DC / USB 5V / 158.74 Wh (#821042, € 369,-)) and can have a maximum output of 120W (10A max current at 12V DC). The controller also has a 12V DC output. You can use this additional connection to connect another device, e.g. B. to supply your mount with power. This allows you to power your entire setup from a single source. Resettable electronic fuses prevent damage if input or output current draw becomes too high.

NOTE: When using two heaters in heavy condensation conditions and powered by a 12V power supply, the controller may operate near its performance limit. In this case, the capacity of a PowerTank Lithium Pro or PowerTank 17Ah is not enough to run the system all night; You will then need a battery with a larger capacity or several batteries.
Unique industrial design

The smart dew protection control 2x consists of a robust metal housing. Inside, a cooling fan protects the electronics of the control unit.

On the top of the controller is the sensor and control unit, which houses the device's status LEDs and environmental sensors. It also helps with cable management. Celestron has placed the temperature and humidity sensors here, away from the control unit and other components that could generate heat. Unlike competing products, these sensors do not require any additional cables to obtain accurate readings.

The LED lights on the control unit show the current status of the device. The LEDs alert you when the controller is using more power than your power source can provide or when the battery needs to be recharged. You can dim LEDs when you are under dark skies.

The Celestron dew protection control 2x is attached to your CGE (Vixen-Style) or CG-5 dovetail with the integrated dovetail clamps. If you prefer to attach the controller to your tripod leg, use the included strap.

Expand your setup

We recommend combining this dew protection heating control with the Celestron dew protection heating rings for 5", 6", 8", 9.25", 11" and 14" (different versions / variants available). They fit seamlessly onto the Schmidt plate of your Schmidt-Cassegrain, EdgeHD or RASA and protect it from dew all year round. For optimal dew prevention, we also recommend using a dew cap. While a dew cap is not required, it will reduce the amount of power the controller must supply to the heating elements to keep your optics clear.
