Products description
IDAS UV/IR blocking filter with extra H-Alpha passage 48mm 2".
The IDAS HEUIB-II is produced in Japan and is one of the best UV/IR blocking filters for astrophotography with color and mono CCD cameras and DSLR cameras.
♦ Absorbs annoying UV and IR
♦ Reduced bright red transmission maintains the color balance of DSLRs despite increased H-alpha sensitivity compared to the original filter
♦ Increases contrast of H-alpha objects
♦ Also suitable for star clusters and galaxies - when using refractive optics, the image is sharper than without a filter
♦ Does not absorb scattered light or nightglow
♦ The HEUIBII-48 comes in a 2" filter holder with an M48x0.75 filter thread
♦ Largely scratch-resistant
The ultimate UV-IR blocking filter for converted DSRLs!
Acts like an astronomical UV-IR block filter with H-alpha transmission and at the same time optimal color reproduction with color sensors even when taking photos in daylight. HEUIB stands for “Ha Enhanced Uv Ir Blocking Filter”.
If you remove the chip filter from a digital SLR camera so that you have a camera that is optimally sensitive up to H-alpha, the image when taking photos in daylight inevitably becomes very red. This is because the eye is only slightly sensitive in the area of the H-alpha line and therefore the normally installed chip filters in this area are only moderately permeable - completely adapted to human vision. In addition, all pixels in the near IR range between around 750 nm and 1200 nm become light sensitive again. This further increases red sensitivity and creates colored halos around stars when optics with lenses are used (chromatic aberration). You therefore have to filter the camera again. But how would it be optimal to the eye?
You use a trick: If you filter out a large part of the red light close to the H-alpha line and then let the astronomically interesting H-alpha line pass normally again in a narrower passage, this creates a largely natural color reproduction in daylight and still optimal reproduction of astronomical objects. This means that the color balance is only slightly distorted and you still have full sensitivity at H-alpha! Not only are daylight images reproduced in such a beautifully neutral way, night images also do not have a reddish cast, but the red nebula still comes into its own.
The most important features of the IDAS HEUIB-II fog filter:
♦ Specially designed for photography with DSLR cameras and single-shot CCD color cameras (SBIG, ATIK, etc.).
♦ High-quality anti-reflective coating - anti-reflective layer
♦ Particularly scratch-resistant hard coating
