SkyWatcher mount AZ-GTI: Solidly built, easy to adjust and regrease

It can happen that you need to/should regrease the gears on mounts.

This is what happened with the Skywatcher AZ GTI mount with GoTo and Wi-Fi. In addition to a FreedomFind, it also features a patented dual encoder.

What is immediately noticeable upon opening the mount, and is confirmed when you see the inner workings, is the solid construction.
Hardly any plastic parts are used, so the gears are made of metal and the shafts are made of brass. Overall, everything is solidly screwed to the die-cast aluminum housing.

This makes it easy to work with and allows you to easily inspect and (re)grease the metal gears. It's also a good opportunity to check whether the gears have too much or too little play and whether everything is properly seated.

Caution: Please do not grease the optical decoder (even if it has gears) and ideally do not touch the circuit board.
