Relaxed and spatial vision: Ideal for planetary and lunar observations

With the binocular approach, your telescope becomes binoculars. Instead of the unusual view with just one eye, you can observe in a relaxed manner without squinting the other eye. This not only makes you tire more slowly, but also creates spatial impressions when observing the moon and planets. For physiological reasons, the image also appears brighter and larger. Even experienced moon watchers discover new details!

The image orientation does not change due to the binocular approach. So if, for example, you use an Amici prism to obtain an upright and sideways image of the moon and planets, this orientation will also be retained with the downstream binocular approach.

To use a binocular approach, you need two identical eyepieces with the same focal length. Each output of the binocular lens has a separate focusing ring.

Our expert comment:

A binocular approach offers the advantage of being able to observe with both eyes. However, these instruments are primarily intended for brighter observation objects, such as planets, the moon and bright deep-sky objects.
Very faint objects should still be observed with one eye. However, bright objects look particularly fascinating in binoculars.
