The wide-angle eyepieces from Celestron's Luminos series offer a comfortable 82 degree field of view. While with simpler eyepieces the field of view is sometimes limited to 55 degrees or even less, with Luminos eyepieces the edge of the image can hardly be seen. This not only allows for a more pleasant image - with the same magnification, a much larger section of the sky can be seen! This makes orientation in the sky much easier. In addition, many deep sky objects such as galaxies, nebulae or star clusters appear more beautiful when the environment in which they are embedded can also be seen. The graphic below shows the different image field of a simple Plössl eyepiece and a Luminos wide-angle eyepiece on the moon with the same magnification or focal length. The inner circle corresponds to the image field of an eyepiece with a 50 degree field of view, the outer circle corresponds to that of a Luminos eyepiece with 82 degrees.

All eyepieces in the Luminos series are parfocal. This means that there is little or no need to refocus when changing the eyepiece. Especially with telescopes, this saves valuable time during which the object being observed could otherwise wander out of the image.

With 20mm eye relief, the eyepieces are also suitable for people who wear glasses. The eyecup can be adjusted by turning the rubber armouring, so it cannot be lost.
