Dwarf II by DWARFLAB

Dwarf translates as "the dwarf" and was financed through crowdfunding. The manufacturer DWARFLAB states on its website that "You can take shots of deep sky objects, galaxies, and nebulae. Watch and record videos of birds and animals." This builds up a lot of anticipation for this dwarf, especially at such a price.

We received it this week and are looking forward to the first tests. At first glance, the unusual design catches your eye, and you automatically think of EAA. Then you consider the aperture (24mm), the focal length (100mm), and the chip (Sony IMX415 Starvis). As advertised on the website, the DWARF II connects to the iPad, the settings can be adjusted intuitively, and calibration runs smoothly—everything's great. Unfortunately, the weather for the next few days isn't ideal, so this could be the longest "unboxing video"...

Schools and larger groups immediately come to mind as target groups. This could bring our hobby closer to many people and, for many, mark their entry into our hobby, both visually and photographically. So, respect for the creativity and this new approach.

Interestingly, the competition is also launching right away with the ZWO SEESTAR. This has an aperture of 50mm (!) and a focal length of 250mm. And from Sony, the IMX462. That could offer an interesting comparison.
You're welcome to take a closer look at the DWARF in our shop, but please inquire beforehand; we might have it on loan for testing. Unfortunately, you can't buy the DWARF from us, as it's sold directly through the manufacturer. Unlike the ZWO SEESTAR, we sell it directly.

As soon as we have a clear night, we'll take the first pictures of the DWARF II, and once we have the ZWO SEESTAR, we'll do our initial test and report back to you.
