Experience with ZWO SeeStar S50

Dear Mr. Kloß,

The telescope has arrived, and I've already been able to take some images of the moon, sun, and galaxies, such as M51. With >1 hour (net) exposure, the field rotation is noticeable, but the stacked result is still impressive, whether on the S50 or subsequently with SIRIL. Video stacking on the S50 also works, albeit with significantly longer runtimes than on a good PC. I've already installed two firmware updates, and each time it worked without problems. ZWO seems to be investing a lot of effort in further development.

The S50 truly lives up to its reputation for being quick and easy to use "in a flash." Its ease of use is certainly a milestone. And it's also remarkable as a "travel telescope."

It will be exciting to see what the future holds. Firstly, further firmware updates that add new features (MOSAIC mode? etc.). Secondly, I'll look at what other manufacturers or ZWO itself will develop in the direction of more powerful optics for "smart telescopes."

I have a question about my telescope. I noticed that there's a little play between the mount/tripod and the telescope. This is noticeable when I hold both in my hand and move the tripod back and forth. I screwed a leveling adapter between the two components, and the play remains, in this case between the telescope and the adapter.

I haven't noticed any impairment in functionality yet. But I would like to know if this is due to the design or if it only occurs with my telescope.
