Repairing a Vixen Go-To mount

Problem:
The customer described that the Vixen Go-To mount was no longer functioning correctly.
Scratching and slipping noises were also detected in the workshop.
For the Go-To mechanism to function properly, all gears must mesh cleanly and correctly.

Solution & Procedure:
The gear edges visible from the outside indicated that the gears were no longer aligned correctly.
After removing the mechanism cover, two screws fell out, which later turned out to be part of the motor and gear mount.
After removing the lower gear, the screws were correctly reattached and secured with Loctite to prevent future loosening. The gaps and distances between the gears were then correctly adjusted.
The remaining gears were then checked, adjusted, and all lubricated.
Finally, all screws on the mount and the polar finder were checked and tightened.
After a final test run, the mount was working perfectly again.
