Baader Glaswegkorrektor® 1:2.60 for Baader binoculars

Glaswegkorrektor® factor 2.6x. Optical path length: -120 mm
    Plug diameter: ∅ 38 mm
Suitable for screwing in the Baader Maxbright (classic and MaxBright® II) and Mark V large field binocular (#2456410, ¤1,424.97)
A Baader Glass Path Corrector® is not a Barlow lens! The reason for the trademarked name is only secondary to the shift in focus!
The primary task of the Glaswegkorrektor® is to correct the prismatic color fringe that would arise from the large glass mass of the prisms in the binocular when used on refractors.
Note: The Baader MaxBright® II binocular incl. case (#2456460, ¤ 479) is the only Baader binocular where you can switch between a Zeiss ring dome and a T-2 threaded connection.

Glaswegkorrektor® (GWK) for binocular approaches and much more.
Glass path correctors for refractors, Newton and SC telescopes

A glass path corrector (GWK) serves two purposes: On the one hand, it eliminates the chromatic aberration caused by the prisms of the binocular attachment on fast optics, and on the other hand, it shifts the focal point outwards so that focusing can be carried out on telescopes with a low back focus. Different glass path correctors also allow you to achieve different magnifications without purchasing a second pair of eyepieces.

These three glass path correctors are screwed into the binocular or T-2 prism. Which factor you need depends on the existing baking focus. Information on determining the back focus can be found in the operating instructions for our binocular approaches. Please also note our 2" glass path correctors specifically for Newtons or refractors/SCs.

The shortening of the optical path length was determined using the 2" focuser of the Traveler 105mm/f6 Apochromat with 35mm ED eyepieces, the large field binocular including 90° T-2 zenith prism and the glass path correctors: The measurement was carried out in each case with the glass path corrector®, installed between the binocular and 90° prism. If the lens system is installed in front of the prism, it is shortened Focal point distance approx. another 15mm.
Focal point distance (optical length) without correction with GWK 1:1.25 with GWK 1:1.70 with GWK 1:2.60
From the contact surface on the eyepiece focuser - with 90° T-2 prism 162 mm (not focusable) 144 mm 122 mm 79 mm
straight-sighted with 2" socket (without prism, important for Newton mirror systems) 112 mm 94 mm 71 mm 28 mm
straight sight with T-2 quick coupler 123 mm 105 mm 82 mm 39 mm

With the help of these three lens systems, focusing problems can be solved with almost all common types of telescopes. The lens mount contains both a connection thread for the Zeiss ring dovetail of our large field binocular and the MaxBright® II as well as a T-2 clamping flange for the MaxBright® and MaxBright® II! This flange can be clamped on any T-2 (M 42x075) threaded connection between the positive and negative threaded parts, opening up unimagined possibilities for your own experiments (with accessories that previously could not be used on your own telescope).

The frame of this glass path corrector® must not be opened because the lenses are individually centered during installation and the lens distances have been optimized for maximum performance as a glass path corrector (but not as a Barlow lens!). That's why only "lens position B" is available (see information sheet for the Astro T-2 System®). The Glaswegkorrektor® with a factor of 2.6 can be screwed directly into the top of any T-2 zenith prism or T-2 Amici prism and can be installed directly in front of the Zeiss dovetail ring as well as in front of the T-2 thread. It can therefore be used unchanged with all of our binocular lenses.

In addition, the 2.6x Glaswegkorrektor® - as explained above - can be clamped between any T-2 screw connection on its thin collar. The flat, thin edge of the glass path corrector must always point towards the eyepiece. The lens mount must point towards the telescope.

T-2 union nut (Maxbright® /Maxbright® II binocular)

All glass path correctors are installed in front of the binocular in lens position B (lens frame points away from the binocular). For this purpose, appropriate space or a screw thread is provided in the T-2 prisms as well as in the 1¼" receptacles or in the 2" receptacle. In order to save optical length, the lens part of the Glass Path Correctors® is not inserted into the binocular, so the beam splitter of the binocular sits as close as possible to the front edge of the binocular.
Telescopes with T-2 connection thread

Whenever you cannot reach the focus point with a new accessory because the focusing path is not sufficient, you should test whether our glass path corrector® is the saving solution. Almost every telescope manufacturer offers a T-2 connection for their devices. These adapters are usually very short because the T-2 thread is usually used for the focal connection of a 35mm camera. This is exactly where our glass path corrector® is installed!

We manufacture a variety of eyepiece clamps, spacer rings and adapters with T-2 threads (e.g. the universal adapter and the T-2 intermediate ring 40mm or 15mm long, so that the right connection can almost always be put together.
