SX2WL A105M II complete telescope set with mount, tripod and eyepieces
This high-quality refractor telescope set impresses with its 105 mm achromatic optics. You will be amazed when you use it to observe the surface of the moon with its craters or Saturn with its ring system. The long aperture ratio of F9.5 ensures only slight color shifts and good contrast.
The telescope is made in Japan and scores with its excellent workmanship. The optics are therefore highly recommended for beginners and advanced users who value high quality and do not want plastic in the workmanship. This is because the telescope is made entirely of metal. The large eyepiece extension, which is also used on the large SD refractors, allows even heavy cameras to be attached without tipping over.
The folding mirror supplied allows comfortable observation even in unfavorable observation situations and also offers a T2 thread for connecting a DSLR camera.
You will be amazed at what you can see in the sky with an aperture of 105 mm. For example, you can use it to observe the rings of the planet Saturn wonderfully. On a good night, the two bright cloud bands and many smaller details on Jupiter become visible, such as the large red spot on the planet. On moonless nights, you can observe the Andromeda Nebula, Orion Nebula, Eagle Nebula, Lagoon Nebula and many other interesting objects. But fainter celestial objects also become visible with this aperture. Depending on the darkness of the sky, the globular cluster M13 can even be resolved into individual stars. The sturdy metal tripod enables vibration-free recording of the telescope and mount even in windy weather.
The ultra-modern SX2WL mount is simply operated via a WiFi module with a smartphone or tablet.
By simply controlling the mount with your smartphone or tablet and with the free STAR BOOK Wireless app, you can easily use celestial navigation functions such as automatic GoTo panning to many celestial objects.
By eliminating the conventional LCD display (STAR BOOK TEN), the power consumption on the mount is reduced by up to 20%, making longer astronomical observation and astrophotography possible.
If you tap the desired celestial object on the star map, it is automatically panned into the field of view of the telescope and tracking begins.
NOTE: An existing STAR BOOK TEN or ONE control can also be used on this mount without any problems.
Equipped with the same precision stepper motors as the top model, the AXD mount, the SX2WL brings a new standard of performance and precision to the Vixen mount family. The axis cross of the mount is just 7 kg light with a photographic load capacity of 12 kg and is therefore ideal for mobile observations. In addition, the motors mounted in the lower part of the mount also serve as a counterweight, meaning the mount needs fewer weights to compensate.
The SX2WL mount in detail
Precision stepper motors and micro-step motion control system
The heart of the SX2 are the precision stepper motors, which offer better performance and response than previous models. The micro-step motion control system scores with powerful yet very quiet drive properties, which are present in both fine movements and fast panning.
Built-in bearings
The bearings of the RA and DEC axes and the worm shafts have been significantly improved to reduce the load on the motors. This means that the motors move much more smoothly than in previous models.
High-precision worm gears
High-precision processing technologies eliminate errors in the worm gears. The running surfaces of the two worms and worm gears are manufactured particularly smooth, enabling very precise tracking.
Declination axis as counterweight
The massive motor units are installed in the lower part of the declination axis so that the center of gravity of the SX2WL is below the intersection point of the RA and DEC axes. This means you need fewer additional counterweights.
Latitude setting
The latitude is adjustable between 0 and 70 degrees (divided into 3 zones and adjustable in +/- 15 degrees per zone, for high, medium and low latitudes); latitude scale in 2-degree increments; fine adjustment with a tangent screw head, approx. 0.8 degrees per turn.

The wireless module in detail
The Vixen WiFi adapter for EQ mounts allows you to control your Vixen mount via a smartphone or tablet.
With the smartphone app "STAR BOOK Wireless" (free) you can navigate the sky without any cables. The smartphone app "STAR BOOK Wireless" transforms your smartphone or tablet into a controller for the equatorial mount in no time at all. The response delay of the mount, which is considered the biggest disadvantage of wireless connections, has been reduced to a level comparable to that of wired models.
Reduced power consumption compared to conventional controllers with LCD monitor
The power consumption of the mount is reduced by up to 20%, allowing longer observations than with conventional wired controllers such as the STAR BOOK TEN.
Operation similar to the STAR BOOK TEN controller
The STAR BOOK Wireless app is structured in a similar way to what you already know from the STAR BOOK TEN controller. Depending on the star map setting, it contains up to 259,000 celestial objects. Tap on a celestial object in the object list and start the GoTo. The mount now automatically moves to this target and brings it into the field of view of the telescope. All of the popular features of the STAR BOOK TEN are retained.
Convenient operation
When looking through the telescope, you operate the mount by swiping on the app's star map. Since there are no buttons, you simply slide your finger over the star map and can thus conveniently operate the mount.
Extensive astronomical data included
In addition to data on easily observable celestial bodies such as Messier objects, NGC objects, IC objects, this also includes the sun, moon, planets, comets and dwarf planets.
Highly precise alignment
By aligning to one or two stars, you can already achieve a fairly precise positioning of the mount. By aligning to three or more stars, a highly precise alignment of the mount for high magnifications can also be carried out. The objects are then approached exactly and centrally in the field of view of your telescope.
The alignment information is saved and can be retained even when the device is switched off. By leaving the telescope in its current state after completing an observation without moving it, you can start the automatic installation with the same settings the next time you observe.
Individual setting options
As with the STAR BOOK TEN control, the app offers various individual settings, such as gear play compensation, night mode in red, autoguider, variable GoTo speed and LED brightness. You can also set the time of the lens tube reversal (meridian flip) as desired. Even if the object moves south during tracking, you can prevent the telescope tube from reversing.
Important information: Not usable on old SX mounts with the old blue Star Book.
