Bresser Telescopes: Setting and adjusting the Hexafoc focuser
Product Description
Setting and adjusting the Hexafoc focuser of Bresser telescopes, as shown in the image for this article:
Screws A - C:
Here, grub screws are normally installed, but have been replaced with more stable screws. These screws hold the focuser to the adapter/transition to the tube. They should be tightened so that the focuser can still be turned/rotated. They engage with the dovetail ring of the tube adapter.
Screw H:
This is used to lock the focuser in the previously set rotation position. After a certain period of time, screws A-C may need to be tightened slightly if they have become loose due to repeated rotation of the focuser. This prevents the focuser from tilting.
Screws F and E:
These screws are used for fine adjustment of the parallelism of the drawtube and for adjusting the play. These screws must be tightened carefully, as otherwise the internal sliding pads may be damaged.
Screws D and M:
Screws D and M increase friction to prevent focus adjustment. These screws are not intended to completely lock the focuser.
Screw G:
This screw adjusts the rack play. This is done with care when extending and retracting the focuser tube.
Screws I, J, K, and L:
These screws secure and adjust the focus drive. These screws should not be adjusted.
Many thanks to Mr. Uwe H. for the photos and to Bresser for the explanations.
