The HELIOSTAR 100Hα is a premium, high-performance 100 mm hydrogen-alpha solar telescope for discerning solar observers and photography enthusiasts. It offers exceptional performance of 0.5 angstroms or better. The Heliostar 100Hα is a precision tool for solar astronomy and offers comprehensive accessories, including a 22 mm 70° wide-field eyepiece, a solar zenith prism, and a solar guider.

Observing the Sun in the H-alpha spectrum allows you to explore the incredible dynamics of the Sun's surface far beyond the capabilities of a white-light filter. From solar prominences at the Sun's limb (often mistakenly called "flares") to active sunspots, bright plague spots, surface granulation, and thin, snake-like plasma filaments, the star of our solar system can be captured in breathtaking views and images. When observing the Sun in the narrow H-alpha spectrum, observers are rewarded with breathtaking, awe-inspiring real-time views of our nearest star in all its fiery glory and activity.
The HELIOSTAR-100Ha utilizes several technologies to protect the human eye during solar observation, including an infrared heat-reflecting film, a special thermal filter, and a UV filter that blocks stray light that interferes with observation. It uses a combination of front and rear filters to transmit only monochromatic light with a wavelength of 656.28 nanometers, emitted by hydrogen atoms, while blocking other light of other wavelengths. This enables the observation of very active prominences in the H-alpha band.

Sky-Watcher's Solis etalon technology enables the Heliostar-100Ha to achieve a 0.5 A bandpass without the cost and complexity of a second etalon to achieve the same performance. This provides the observer with detailed images of the solar disk immediately and at no additional cost.

The HELIOSTAR-100Ha complies with the transmission requirements of ISO 12312-2:2015 (filters for direct solar observation). Always use the telescope according to the instructions and exercise extreme caution when observing the sun.

The 20 mm blocking filter in the removable eyepiece is part of the Heliostar safety features. Do not use this telescope with other diagonal mirrors.
