Experience and recording with William Optics RedCat 51 WIFD (L-RC51 RD III) and ZWO ASI585MC Pro NGC6992
Dear Mr. Kloß,
Thank you for the quick turnaround and the fantastic telescope! You were right, of course; it fits perfectly on the Star Adventurer GTI GoTo. My guiding during the few cloud-free hours you kindly provided was under 0.5", and so with the William Optics 51, I was able to get 120- to 180-second sub-focuses with a 100% success rate, and 300-second sub-focuses with a few failures. I'm absolutely thrilled with the handling of the telescope; it's very easy to focus, especially with the built-in Batinov mask, and the filter was also easy to install. The ASI 585 is a significant upgrade from the Canon 600D, I admit. 😂 I'm already impressed by the optical quality of the setup, and I've only been out with it for three hours. I've attached the first light of the entire setup and the admittedly grateful target, NGC 6992. 42 sub-focuses at 120 seconds—I can't believe how good it already looks.
Thank you so much. This makes me very happy, and I'm looking forward to it. More time with it. 😊 Until next time and best wishes,
Antje S.
