Experience and recordings with Touptek IMX571 Color and Explorer 200PDS
Hello Mr. Kloß,
Thank you again for the excellent advice on the cooled camera. With the sheer number of models, it's really difficult to get an overview. As you mentioned, the Touptek runs perfectly with the INDI driver, and I'm still thrilled that, for my budget, I now have a proper cooled APS-C sensor instead of a mini sensor in a red body 😉
Thank you again for the extras (adaptor and guiding camera)!
Unfortunately, setting up the new configuration wasn't very successful yesterday due to the few gaps in the clouds, but it was still enough for about half an hour of M101. Attached is the result of the quick shot with the telescope not yet properly adjusted – a truly massively noticeable difference compared to my EOS 700da. Please ignore the oval stars in the lower half of the image…
As expected, the camera is a great match for the P200PDS – another excellent recommendation you gave me.
I'm also attaching a picture of my now fairly complete garden observatory, unfortunately without a hut around it due to the development plan. The focuser and tube door with integrated flat box are self-built (a lot of it was done with a 3D printer) and completely automated, along with the rest, via the Raspberry Pi hanging from the column. It's currently running StellarMate, which now also works perfectly with the new camera via the iPad app. EKOS has been a bit tricky with the EOS from time to time, but everything has been running smoothly with the Touptek driver so far.
Since I leave the mount on the column with a small weather protection cover, setting it up and taking it down is done in just a few minutes.
Thanks again for the always good and sensible advice!
Best regards from Schweinfurt,
Stefan G
Addendum:
I've now been working a bit more intensively on editing (since the weather has been bad all the time) and have been able to get a lot more out of the images using Pixinsight. Perhaps you'd be better off using the attached images. Two of them were taken with the Touptek (M97 and M101), and M1 was taken with the P200PDS, but with an EOS 700da. All images are from the outskirts of the city, estimated to be just Bortle 5.
