Removing the tube from the fork mount using the example of the somewhat older Celestron NexStar CPC C11 SC telescope

Product Description
Removing the tube from the fork mount using the slightly older Celestron NexStar CPC C11 SC telescope as an example:

To remove the tube from the CPC series mount, two inch screws must be removed at each end of the mounting rail. Four screws in total.

The tube is held in place adequately by the two brackets even without these screws.

The tube is also held in place with a pin near the fork arm. To do this, the mounting arm must be lifted off with a lever (e.g., a large screwdriver protected with a rubber grommet to prevent scratches). For safety, the tube should be placed on the floor or table to prevent it from falling. Two people should be present, with one person holding the tube securely. You can also place a sheet of paper or something similar between the tube and the mounts to prevent scratches.

First, pry off the first arm and rotate the telescope slightly out of the mount. Then carefully remove the second arm and the telescope from the fork.

I would screw the four screws back into the tube to prevent dust from penetrating the threads.

You can then mount a dovetail bar to the tube and use the telescope on an equatorial mount, allowing you to achieve longer exposure times for astrophotography. An EQ6-class mount would be more stable for photography than using a polar wedge.
