StarAllignment Procedure - ASIAIR and AVX

Hello and good morning Mr. Kloss,
Well, this night worked quite well except for redefining the limits on the mount. NGC 3190 (the entire Hixon 44 group) – let's see how it turned out with a 300-second exposure. Pixinsight is currently working on it.

Here, as promised, is the exact procedure if one of your customers has the same problem. By the way, this procedure is equivalent to doing a polar alignment with ASIAIR. I wouldn't have thought so, but hey, you never stop learning.

So:

Turn on the mount and don't confirm anything on the hand controller or press the keyboard in any way – just leave it alone.

Now turn on the ASIAIR and let it boot until it beeps. Then immediately connect it to the tablet (or phone, whichever you're using).

Now return to the hand controller (the ASIAIR has now transferred the time and probably also GPS data to the mount). Confirm a "One Star Alignment" with "Enter" and search for a bright star (I used Mizar).

The mount now naturally wants you to visually bring the star to the center of the eyepiece using the arrow keys. Here, I use the ASIAIR, take a 2-second image, and check where the star is positioned (mine was absolutely centered without any adjustment).

Once the star is centered, press "Align" on the hand controller and you're done.

Now, to check, move the ASIAIR to a bright object, center it using the arrow keys on the ASIAIR (if necessary), and take a corresponding photo. Solve this with the "Solve" button and then synchronize it on the next interface that appears on the ASIAIR. If the GPS data from ASIAIR and the mount match, both systems are synchronized and the preparations are complete – we're ready to go.

Note that the focus should be very precise in any case...

If the GPS data is correct, a one-star alignment is completely sufficient.

I'll try tonight with a mosaic on the Markarian chain. I already started last night, so we'll see how it goes...

I'll also try soldering the old HC again; maybe I'll manage it on the second try; however, it's very difficult with such delicate solder joints.

...And about the new mount... I'll keep at it... I'd like to have it, but it will take some time. It's always like that: you do calculations on the house, and in the end, the construction specialists say... WE NEED TO RECALCULATE... The entire budget is already blowing your mind... But you can get through that too 😊

I hope I've helped you with this little roadmap. In any case, it works very well; you can do without ASIAIR's PA, it's faster, more error-resistant, and thus a selling point for the AVX. You also don't get flustered when a customer needs this advice... and it underlines your competence. I bet many people don't know what to do in an emergency - despite the internet...
With that in mind, I wish you a pleasant day.
If you need further help, I'd be happy to test something for you... just let me know...
Best regards from Lake Constance
Peter A.
